Motorola V3 pins 1,2,3 shorted out...

I have a Motorola RAZR V3 phone (very old phone, I know) that has been dropped in water. I disassembled it wanting to see what the problem was, and, using a multimeter, I figured out that the pins 1,2,3 from the charging port are shorted out. The port looks good so I figured out that there must be a defective circuit somewhere, but i can't figure it out... Could you guys help?

Some people have had success putting their phone in a bag of rice for several days with battery out without turning it on. For some this works but it is usually only temporary. Plan on getting a new phone and transferring your info even if you get it to work as your days are likely numbered. Wish I had better news but water and electronics don't mix.

If it was dropped in Salt water or polluted water, you would need to trash it it away as the salt corrosion will damage everything beyond repair. If the radio had the battery taken out and was immediately washed in distilled water or purified water from a supermarket and then dried in a warm place it usually works OK when dried.
If you want to see if the phone works I suggest you try to get a charged battery and put it in and see if the phone works. If it doesn't phone is probably beyond repair. As for the shorts on the USB charger socket it could be that the on board mini USB socket was mechanically forced / twisted and the pins are shorted out.

If the phone was on when it was dropped in the water it probably will never work because the circuits inside will have been compromised. If the phone was off, remove the battery and it can be put in an oven set to 'warm' and left for several hours. This dries out the circuits an sometimes lets the phone work. Usually the phone gets damaged when it is dropped in water.

Motorola RAZR V3 Unlocking Instructions Warning : Do not enter any wrong unlock codes on your Motorola RAZR V3 mobile phones. If you enter over a certain amount of wrong unlock codes on your Motorola RAZR V3 mobile phone, your phone may get hard locked and sometimes become unusable.
1 - Switch ON your Motorola RAZR V3 with a NOT ACCEPTED SIM Card,
2 - Phone will display "Enter Special Code",
3 - You can now enter the Unlock Code.

NOT ACCEPTED: We mean, to use a sim card from a network other than the network your Motorola RAZR V3 is locked to.

WARNING: If one of theses messages appear :

- "Contact Service Provider"

Can't hear through earpiece

If the phone is under 1 yr old I suggest finding the nearest Motorola service center as it is under warranty. If its not covered you could replace the speaker yourself, although would require a small amount of soldering or replacing the entire LCD module which could be expensive. Let me know if you decide to give it a try I can help w/ disassembly. Good luck.
