The problem with universal remotes is that they are just that - universal. They are good at doing all the normal things that TVs do, but often cannot or do not have the programming to do the subtle things that the manufacturer's remote can do.

How to remove closed caption on Sony Bravia TV

Check the menu of set and a box if used--both usually have that feature.

In menu look for closed captions (CC) and turn off--settings may exist for leaving it to only come on if sound is muted.

Do not if using a box for signal overlook that also having the same feature.

I can't turn the closed captioning off. I have went to device tv tried turning cc off. It won't turn off

If you are able to turn the closed captioning off with the original TV remote, then I suggest doing it that way. If you want that functionality on your Harmony One, you can use the original remote to teach the Harmony the closed captioning command. To learn commands, do the following:
1. Log in to the Harmony software. 2. On the "Devices" tab, click "Learn IR" next to the icon for your TV. 3. At the bottom of the screen where it says "MyNewCommand," enter the name that you want the command to have, and click "Learn." 4. Follow the on-screen instructions to learn the button. 5. Update your remote.

HOW DO I REMOVE THE SUBTITLES FROM MY SONY BRAVIA

Hi,
The Subtitle option is available only with the connected devices like DVD Player, Blu-ray Disc Player etc. The option avaialble in the TV is known as Closed Caption. The Closed caption option can be turned off by selecting the options below:
Press Menu button on the TV Remote. Select, Setup settings. Then select Caption Vision option to OFF. This option is for turning off the Closed Caption option in the TV to OFF. For disabling the Subtitle option in the connected devices like DVD Player and Blu-ray Disc Player, press the SUBTITLE button on the supplied Remote continuously to select OFF.
In few of the TV broadcasting channels the Subtitles cannot be turned OFF as this is being broadcasted with the channels.
Good Luck! KenSolutions

Cannot turn off closed captioning on my Sony Bravia using my Harmony 890 remote

If the setting provided by the Logitech data base for your Bravia model is not working use the original Sony remote to have the Logitech "learn" the correct code and assign it to a button or to a screen menu "button". The instructions for "learning" are on the Logitech web site when you log in to your account.

Closed Caption on Sony Bravia

Try a master reset on the TV. With the TV powered on, prss and hold down the up button on the remote (there are 4 buttons grouped together for up down left and right) and while holding down the up button, press the power button on the TV. The unit should power off and then turn back on and ask you to select a language. Let me know if this helps and be sure to rate this solution. Thanks!

Programming Harmony 880 Remote to Mute with CC on Sony Bravia KDL-40W4100

Do you use a Home Theater receiver along with your televison?  Are other components, such as a DVD player, VCR, Blu-ray player, etc. connected?
If so, it's possible that the Mute function on your remote is muting the sound from your receiver, and not the TV itself.
If that's the case, you'll need to look at the details of the "default" buttons for your activities, and see whether the Mute function is associated with your TV or your receiver.  If it's set for the receiver, you need to change it to be associated with the TV.

Closed caption

There are external close caption boxes that you can add to your system. But be aware: many cable boxes do not process the close captioning information "through", forcing you to use the close captioning on the cable box.
