Please read the manual. You should connect speakers to the speaker output of the receiver, or amplifier. You connect the TV with a receiver through a HDMI cable. Depending what would be the source from that you take the output and the place the signal is going to there you should use the input. Don't connect anything without 100% certainty it is correct. You could damage the whole equipment when connected the wrong way around.

Hello Fixya team, I need help!

To set up your home theater system with the equipment you mentioned, follow these steps:
  1. Connect the Onkyo receiver to the NEC TV using an HDMI cable. Make sure the HDMI input on the TV is set to the correct input for the Onkyo receiver.
  2. Connect the Panasonic DVD player to the Onkyo receiver using an HDMI cable.
  3. Connect the Firestick Lite to the Onkyo receiver using an HDMI cable.
  4. Connect the Panasonic speakers to the Onkyo receiver using speaker wires. Make sure you connect the speakers to the correct speaker terminals on the receiver, which are usually labeled with the speaker's position (e.g. front left, front right, center, surround left, surround right).
  5. Configure the Onkyo receiver to use the correct input for each device. For example, set the input to "DVD" when you want to watch a movie on the Panasonic DVD player, or set the input to "Firestick" when you want to watch content on the Firestick Lite.
  6. Configure the audio settings on the Onkyo receiver to use the correct audio format for your content. For example, if you are watching a movie with Dolby Digital surround sound, make sure the receiver is set to decode Dolby Digital audio.
  7. Adjust the volume and other audio settings on the Onkyo receiver as needed to optimize the sound quality.
Once you have completed these steps, you should be able to enjoy surround sound audio from your Panasonic speakers through the Onkyo receiver.

Can I connect a 3.5mm audio cable from my TV to this JVC RX705V receiver?

So if you're trying to amplify the sound coming out of your TV to an amplifier you need to connect the output on the back of your TV on the receiver to the end audio input on the back of your receiver you might need different types of connections on each end but as long as you take the output on the TV and input it into your receiver your receiver will amplify the sound another way you could do it is to go inside the TV and connect two wires off of each of the two wires of each speaker leaving the internal speakers connected and then plug them in to the audio inputs on your receiver also if you're using one of the audio outputs on TV make sure you go into the menu and tell it you're using external speakers Good Luck Chuck

Connecting tv external speakers

Process of elimination... First and foremost, you didn't tell us what model Bravia TV... the RX-V model has so many plausible connections to that TV, even if there is no optical on the TV.

Would you please verify TV model, and check exact Yamaha Model, I looked for the model you state and couldn't find it.

Generally speaking... red/white is the oldest way to connect to your receiver... are you connected to the correct input? and how is the receiver to send to the tv? What is the input... cable, dvd, etc... then you select "input" then on the receiver you select OUTPUT only is labeled on the receiver. Now... let's say cable box goes into the TV, and you are wondering why no audio.. that is because you are using an INPUT on the tv white/red to the receiver.. cannot do that, won't work, only HDMI can talk both way on some HDMI input/output. The only only only way output from a TV can be done is HDMI arc ...(look up ARC) and then enable it on receiver too.... or a optical from tv to receiver, or lastly output red/white on the tv... and in some you don't have any but may have a headphone jack that you'd buy a headphone jack to red/white ... take the headphone jack plug that in.. that is output, make the input any input on the receiver and you will select that input on the remote and it'll work.

Gimme more infor and I can get you better answers :)

I'm trying to connect a Samsung HD LCD tv to a Denon AVR1508 receiver using HDMI cable so that the TV sound comes thru the receiver/speakers. which jack do I use (on both the tv and the receiver,

connect the hdmi to the tv (hdmi input 1) and to the receiver (hdmi output) you must make sure that the receiver input settings are assigned correctly. Then hook up all of your devices to the receiver. remember that the 1508 dosent do hdmi upconversion, so if you have any devices that are NOT hdmi, you need to run rca cables from the output of you receiver to the input of your tv. If you have any digital inputs coming out of your devices, i would recommend using them. your 1508 has two inputs that are assignable.
If all of your devices are hooked up to your receiver, and its hooked up to your tv properly, just turn down the sound on your tv, and turn up the volume on your denon!

Unable to get TV sound and dvd sound through the surround sound speakers with samsung compatible tv and blu ray player

Hi,Even though you have not mentioned about the cabling connections you have done, for the sake of correct connection I describe all the possible cabling alternatives to you..You can select whichever you want..

TO WATCH DVD ON THE TV:
** Receiver's "AUDIO and VIDEO OUTPUT as " 2xRCA Audio+1x Video " or "Optic Cable OUTPUT or " HDMI Output " of your Home Theater Receiver (whichever you want ,based on the existing sockets and necessary cables on your hand )
** AT TV side : you need to connect "Audio+ Video input s " as can either be : 3xRCA jacks or "Optic cable input " or HDMI IN connector of your TV ,
** than just switch to DVD mode on Receiver and play DVD
*
You can use "HDMI" connections as well but sometimes HDMI creates problem on Audio..

TO LISTEN YOUR TV ON SURROUND SYS.
** AT TV side : you need to connect "Audio Output " as can either be : 2xRCA jacks or "Optic cable output" or HDMI connector of your TV ,
** to Receiver's "TV input "or "AUX input" or "Optic Cable input"
or HDMI of your Home Theater Receiver (whichever you want ,based on the existing sockets and necessary
cables on your hand )
** than just switch to respective SOURCE mode on
Receiver corresponding the connector you have used on the back of Receiver ..
*
You can use "HDMI" connections as well but sometimes HDMI creates problem on Audio..

Pls remember.."IN " goes to "OUT" or vice versa..all the times..

There you go..Both Tv and DVD sound are on the
Receiver as SURROUNDING SOUND .By this means ,whatever you watch on the TV will come thru your Receiver's SURROUNDING SOUND speakers as well .

Hope this helps!..if more help requires pls let me know.
Take care

Can't get sound to come from speakers with tv only the radio

You didn't give the brand and model of your TV, and I can't try to find a manual and see what kind of AV connections it has available. So here's some general information.

Many TV sets only have input jacks for external sources like DVD players or cable boxes. When you select an external source, or use the set's internal tuner for TV programming, the video and audio play through the TV. The trouble is that if the set has no audio output jacks, there's no way to get a sound signal out. The TV accepts only inputs

When the TV is part of a home theater system, most people use it just as a video monitor. All AV sources connect to the receiver, and audio is sent from there to the speakers. A video output from the receiver goes to the TV so you can see the picture, and the TV's speakers aren't used. If you have a cable box, FiOS set-top box or satellite receiver for your TV channels, they connect to the receiver too, since they're just another external source.

This doesn't work if you rely on the TV's internal tuner for TV channels, though. This might be the case, for instance, if you have a cable system where a converter box isn't required and your cable connects right to the TV. When you're watching regular TV, then, the sound comes through the set's internal speakers. If there's no audio output available on your TV, that's your only option.

As I said earlier, many TV's have only audio inputs. But some have audio output jacks as well, so the sound has a way out. If yours does, you can connect them to one of the inputs on the home theater receiver. Then when you select that input you'll get the TV sound through the speakers connected to the receiver. Depending on the design of the TV, you may need to leave the TV volume turned up. Some sets have outputs that are follow the TV's volume setting. On others, the output is an independent fixed level. Then you can turn the TV volume down and use just the receiver's speakers if you want.

Check the connections available on your TV and look for a set of "audio out" jacks. Your TV's owner's manual should have a section explaining how to connect it in different ways. If you need a copy, most manufacturers have manuals for download on their website.

Good luck with your sound, and thanks for using Fixya!

How can i connect my 32" sony bravia?because the

Route the television audio directly through a stereo receiver. Connect the audio outputs of the television to the audio inputs of the receiver, using digital (coaxial or optical) or RCA (left and right audio) cables. Connect the left and right stereo speaker to the corresponding terminals on the receiver. Be sure that the positive and negative terminals of each speaker and the receiver are correctly lined up

Use a cable box. If your television doesn't have audio outputs, as many older TVs don't, use the outputs from a cable box to route your sound to the receiver. Proceed with a digital or RCA connection as described for the TV

Use a VCR. If you don't have a cable box, run the cable from the wall outlet into your VCR and then instead of outputting the audio to the TV, output it to the receiver so that you'll get sound from cable programming through the receiver and to the speakers, rather than to the TV. Connect the video output from the VCR directly to the TV for the easiest setup. You will then need to control your television programming with the VCR.

Change the program mode on the receiver to the input category you used to input the audio; for example, "TV," "Cable" or "Aux" are common options. You should now be able to hear audio from television programs on your speakers.

I have a Vizio Flat Screen TV. I have speakers in all the rooms in my home. Can the TV be hooked up to the speakers with any success?

Hello,

yes, the TV can be hooked to the speakers, but you will be needing a receiver (amplifier).

Check your TV, if you will have any earphone input space. If you find it on the TV, then it means job is half done.

Get a 3.5mm to RCA cord, connect the 3.5mm part to your TV's earphone space (if any), then connect the RCA part (Red and White) to input (Aux/Video/CD in etc) at the back of your receiver (amplifier) or deck, select the input (Aux/Video/CD in etc) on your sound system (receiver/amplifier) and sound should come out of the speakers.

Also, you can use this same method, but this time with a different wire which is RCA to RCA.

Connect the RCA (Red and white, to "Output" or 'Out' at the back of the TV, then connect the other part to the "Input" of your sound system (receiver/amplifier).

Good luck.

I have no sound coming out of my speakers when I connect the receiver to my tv and ps3.

There's really not enough info here to answer your question. What outputs are you connecting to what inputs on your receiver? 1. Does the receiver produce sound from other inputs? If yes, then receiver to speaker is OK. 2. Do you have sound at a headphone jack but not speakers? This would indicate bad speaker wiring or blown output fuses.
A bit more info will help - maybe gathering it will lead you to where the connection is not correct.
