Unscrew pressure foot and replace or use finer needles, and make sure they are not bent or that the zig zag is engaged

How do alter the needle position on the Singer Talent. At the moment it's sewing right of centre. I have bought a 'ruffled foot' but the needle hits the needle slot

If your machine has that capability, the manual should have instructions on how to move the needle. If not, then your machine may need adjustment.

Why is needle hitting zipper foot on left side only?

When the needle is set on the center position, is it centered or is it slightly off center? If so, then the mechanism needs to be adjusted so that the needle is perfectly centered. When it is off-center, you will get the problem you are experiencing with hitting one side of the zipper foot. May want to take it in for service.

I know how to attach my ruffler foot but my needle keeps hitting the plate .what do I need to adjust to keep the needle from hitting the foot

You may need to move the needle position left or right. Try a different stitch length. If the ruffler foot is installed correctly and needle is in the correct position this should not happen. It is hitting left/right/forward or back of the ruffler needle space?

My pressure foot does not hold the fabric. I have a singer 9117 machine.

Either the teeth are not coming up high enough through the needle plate or you need to put more pressure on the foot by adjusting the pressure inside the faceplate

Bobbin thread knots up - needle only moves very short distance and feels like it is hitting something. I changed needle but it will only go down so far and something stops it.

Hi,

Your needle bar is centered too far to the back. There are 2 little bolts (Below the presser foot lift on the back of the machine) that must be loosened while the needle bar is repositioned aligning the needle bar assembly.

Let me know,once done.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Keep breaking needles

Hello,
Here are some solutions to try.

* When you insert your new needle, make sure it’s positioned correctly (usually with the flat side away from the bobbin, but consult your manual), that it goes all the way into the holder, and that the screw is securely tightened.

If there doesn’t seem to be a problem with your needle, try the following:

* Check your pressure foot and make sure it’s attached securely.

* Change your pressure foot Your pressure foot may be bent, causing your needle to hit it.

* Don’t sew over pins a needle that hits a pin can break. Always remove the pins from your fabric before they reach your needle.

* Don’t pull your fabric as you sew. You could be bending your needle back, causing it to hit your needle plate instead of going into the hole. Just guide your fabric, letting it feed on its own.

* Check your needle plate and make sure it's securely in position.

* Change your needle plate. If you’ve been using a straight stitch needle plate (a plate with a small hole, often used for sewing fine, delicate fabrics), switch to a needle plate with a wider hole.

* Check the position of your needle. Sewing machines with zigzag capability allow you to adjust the position of your needle – right, left, or center. If your needle is not positioned correctly, it may be hitting your needle plate or pressure foot.

Hope this helps.

Ingenuity-needle hits pressure foot when zigzag stitching

Reduce the width of the zig zag as a short term fix, but it seems that you either have the incorrect foot attached, or the ZZ width setting needs adjusting.

If, when the needle is set to be centred, is it actually slightly off-centre ?? You may do worse than have a service done, explaining the issue you face as well as a general go over.

As this was posted some time ago, I hope it has been resolved for you.
