I have error C0000034 applying update operation 460 of 41831 (generalize XML). All I did was turn my idea pad on. It never resolves and I have tried turning my laptop off and restarting. Any ideas

Restart your computer & start tapping f/8 immediately and keep tapping until black screen comes up. Use the arrow keys to select safe mode the press enter. It will start up in safe mode in each corner, the icons are all out of shape and a help window will open. Close that window. Then go to: Start, Accessories, System Tools, right click System Restore & send to desk top.(The reason to do that will be to use it easier ANYTIME you have a problem.) Then do a system restore back to a time before you had the problem. That should resolve it. If not you will have to do a Recovery after saving everything you want to keep on a Flash Drive. On start, type recovery & go there & follow directions.
