I live in Australia, in Tasmania. I have had my phone for some time now, so it is out of warranty. A couple of months ago I could not connect to the Internet even though I could still send & receive text messages. I could also make & receive phone calls. I still can send & receive texts & make & receive phone calls. I have tried everything the technicians told me to do. I cleaned the sim card. i tried as friend's sim card. As a last resort, I did a "factory reset" losing a lot. I still cannot connect it to the internet, but can use texts and ring with phone. I again contacted Telstra and was instructed on how to test the "Access Point" name and settings and resave and try again. No good! He then told me how to set up a new "APN" which I did and saved it and tried to connect. STILL frustratingly no good! When I checked this APN I realised it had exactly the same settings as the original. He asked me if I purchased it from a Telstra shop. I said no, but from a department store. He said Telstra couldn't guarantee the connection because I didn't purchase it from a Telstra shop. This doesn't make sense to me. Can you please tell me how I can send & receive texts, how I can ring on phone & receive calls [in fact, the Telstra person rang me on this phone], but STILL cannot connect to the internet? It is frustrasting. Casn you please suggest something to help me, or do I need to get another phone?
Your internet access has different settings to calls & texts so that is why you can have the others without Internet access! The settings for Internet on your phone has to come from your service provider..........Mobile network settings - set options for data roaming, network mode & operators, access point names (APNs) and so on! Contact your service provider and get the settings for your phone sent to it from them.....have they done this?
ASK YOUR TELECOM NETWORK PROVIDER TO SEND APN SETTINGS.

The_Wise23 - delete and try reinstalling your lg usb modem if that does not work call your provider and see if they can assist you more.
chinesebox - the best thing to do is uninstall all lg software and then reinstall it.
for all other users un-install then reinstall

Try calling your provider. In my location, they send an sms, that has a config file, and it automatically installs all the settings required and Viola! u're ready to surf :D
