I have a panasonic home theatre system Model No SA-HT690 and want to bypass the DVD player and hook it up directly to my new Samsung TV. I want to be able use the surround sound when watching TV and using my blue ray player so bypassing the panasonic DVD player seems to be the route to take. The only problem is that the subwoofer has a E148000 AWM cable and my TV does not. Is there an adapter I can buy to make the panasonic speakers work with my Samsung TV, which has USB and HDMI outlets.

I moved this to the Panasonic area, where I thought I was, sorry about that.

It won't let me move it. I have a Denon AVR-887 receiver I could use but it also does not have a E148000 AWM connector which means I still would need some sort of adapter?

I don't really understand what you want to do. The DVD player in the Home Theater, you don't want to use or doesn't work? In any case, the sub needs to be hooked up to the Panasonic, not the TV. The Panasonic doesn't have an HDMI out? If you let me know just what you're trying to do and why, I can be of actual help. I will also need to know what connectors are available to you, and on which unit.

you want to instead pass the audio from the blueray
either direct to the sa-hr690 via one of its aux inputs
or via the TV

via the TV makes sense

so find an audio out from the tv
some only have headphones
some a pair of phono plugs

so youll prob need phono to phono cables
and then your good too go

Looking for programming code

Go to www.insignia-products.com, go to their TV section, select 'Discontinued Sets', and look for the NS-PDP42. Once you're on that page, there are still active links to the user manual. Download and enjoy!

I have bouight a samsung home theatre system that comes complete wiht a DVd player - i also have a samsung blu ray player - naturally ithought they would be compatible!! how wrong i was!! the connections...

You have several ways to do this. You can hdmi cables from the two units and plug them into your tv if it supports hdmi and run the audio out portion on the back of the tv and hook that into one of the audion inputs on the surround unit. Or you run audio directly out of the bluray using rca, digital coax, or digital optical cable. Turn the surround reciever to the corresponding input that you choose to use.

Ghosting of picture from a Panasonic home cinema system

There must be a fault in the screening of the internal wiring to the scart outlet in the home theatre system. I simply changed the way the player was connected to the TV and the interference disappeared:-

1.) I used the RCA video outlet instead of the scart lead. Picture quality was not compromised. FYI the Panasonic Plasma TV I have has only RGB video input sockets at the back, so I used a scart to RCA adaptor to overcome this problem of connecting old technology to new.

2.) The surround sound when playing DVDs is generated directly from the home theatre system so there was no need to connect the audio from the home theatre system to the TV

3.) I used a pair of RCA leads to connect the "audio out" from the TV to the "audio in"on the home theatre system to provide the option of TV sound through the home theatre system.

Hooking Up The Theatre System to the TV and Cable.

this means you likeley have your cable box connected correctly, if you have it connected to a standard definition input (AV in or coaxial) make sure the that the dvd player is not in progressive mode.
