How can I obtain software for GR D240 camcorder to connect with my PC

Your PC must have a IEEE1394 port (FIREWIRE PORT). If you do not have, you can try PINNACLE DAZZLE to video capture.

Turn the power switch on your camcorder to "Off." Connect the USB cable that came with the camcorder to the USB port on the camcorder. If you are using the DV cable, connect one end of the cable to the computer first. Put the other end of the USB cable into the USB port on your computer. For example, in iMovie you click on "File," then "Import from Camera" to download the movie from your camcorder to the computer.

its probibly early signs of condensation or a little damp air with faults of this nature same as lense cap fault and or condensation fault leave camera plugged in and switched on for a week . when camera has been on for a while dont put it straight into a bag or case leave it a room temp for a couple of hours after use before putting it away .

that's a safety feature on some camcorders - they have a leaf iris which closes to limit the amount of light hitting the CCD hence protecting it. When this is fully closed and too much light still hits the CCD (ie when you point the camera at the sun), the sensor shuts down completely to protect itself. On cameras without the iris, this can spell doom for the sensor.

You can transfer video from the camera to your pc by using an i.Link connection if your camera has it or you can use the supplied usb wire to connect it to your pc and transfer the video that way. If you do not have the cord it is easily obtainable at any camera repair or sales store.
