Try to reset the camera settings, then press the flash button (lightning symbol) and make sure it's set to ON mode.
if it still does not work you might need to replace it

It could be the sensor or a short in the flash wiring. You should take it into a camera shop and have them look at it. You could be covered under warranty if the camera is less than a year old.

in a word you dont!!! drop it into the shop they may fix it at price,
but if you open it up the flash capacitor inside could realy bite you
or,,, maybe even kill you??? my pall once tuched this capacitor and he had his arm in a sling for a month, the jolt he got off it "riped his are mussels to bits!" he was very lucky,,, he lived!!! be warned!!!
