How do you remove the clear plastic cover on the crisper drawer of a Samsung Refrigerator Model RF4287HARS

There is liquid from spills and little pieces of something between the white plastic and the top clear plastic on the front of the crisper drawers. I have tried spraying water in but it only pushes the stuff farther in. There a small indentions on each side of the bottom and sides of this but I would have to use an instrument of some kind and I'm afraid of breaking the plastic.

Yes, the clear plastic front of the crisper drawer can be removed for cleaning. Using a thin-bladed, flat-head screwdriver, pry out at the clear plastic slot at the top outside of the drawer, where the clear front piece meets the tab of the white handle piece. Pry out just enough to get the blade under the slot, and then pry inward at the white tab to release the clear front piece at the top of the drawer. Repeat this procedure on the opposite side, so that the plastic front piece is free at the top of the drawer. Next, turn the drawer over on a counter and work the blade of th screwdriver under the tabs at the bottom of the front plastic piece. These should release easily. Notice the bottom edge has three slots and two sections that are interleaved with the bottom of the drawer. Once you have all three pieces separated, the while u-shaped handle piece, the plastic front panel, and the drawer itself, you can clean and dry them easily. To reassemble, first snap the while handle into place on the drawer, by lining up the top of the drawer to the while handle part first. The top of the handle fits over two plastic extensions on th top of the drawer, then swings down to cover the front sides of the drawer. Then reattach the bottom of the front plastic panel to the bottom of the drawer, interleaving the overlapping parts and snapping the tabs in place. Then snap the top of the front panel over the white handle at the top of the drawer, and you are done!

Thanks, John, I was just searching for this - but a video/picture would be helpful, as it sounds a little complicated. I don't want to break anything. For an expensive fridge, the design is lacking here. Onion skins bits are a particular culprit. :/

I am trying to do this right now with the help of someone else and the ***** driver. It is not comming apart at all. And don't waste time calling Samsung. They said you had to call a tech!!!

  • Veon Kiech Sep 12, 2016

Yes, if you could add a video of the process. A picture is worth a thousand words...
I'm also afraid I'm prying too far in the wrong places.

I think they a deliberately designed that way so people do accidentally break them and have to pay for new ones. Most motor vehicles are designed better!

SOURCE: Removing the refrigerator drawers from the Electrolux side-by-side refrigerator

Got it. My mother got one of these fridges and was frustrated with the drawers not sliding off to clean. It is designed to dissamble the complete drawer assembly. Start by removing the glass from the top of the chill zone drawer frame. Next grasp the white piece of plastic that the chill zone is written on and pull up. There are 4 pegs which affix the drawer assembly to the fridge. The front two pegs will pop out and then the rear will easily pull. The top drawer assembly must be removed before the bottom two drawer assemblies can be removed.

I also noticed the plastic pieces and tried to pinch them but I couldn't get them to budge. Once I saw the 4 pegs, it made sense.

SOURCE: Vegetable and fruit crisper drawers freezing foods

I had the same problem. Apparently the problem is the main control board. According to the technician that came out to fix mine there is a design flaw and these boards are very sensitive and can blow a circuit or malfunction from the slightest power surge. What happens then is that the control board doesn't "tell" the fan to turn on and off at the right time so the fridge and freezer warm up too much before the fan kicks in and then it cools everything down but since the fan isn't running at the correct intervals and circulating the air all of the cold air settles to the bottom which causes the produce in the drawers to freeze while the top shelves get warmer. I had done a fair bit of research before calling GE and came to the conclusion that this was a common problem. So I pressed them and was able to get the fee for the part waived (before I made the service call appointment) which was around $150. The part now has a 5 year waranty which I find funny, because I'm not sure why it wouldn't have that upfront as my refridgerator is only 2 years old. Whatever!! Unfortunately, unless you have indepth knowledge of refridgerator repair there is no way around the service call and labor. Anyone buying a new model of refridgerator (any company) should consider an extended waranty. The service tech also told me that all refridgerators made after 2001 are required, by law, to have an electronic mother board which in all likelyhood will fail at somepoint prior to when you are ready to buy a new fridge!

Good Lucak!

SOURCE: Bottom freezer door/drawer won't close all the way on one side.

Remove all the food from the freezer and then the drawer from the cabinet. Now using a silicone based lubricant, lube the tracks up real well. Be sure to clean the tracks first if gunked up. Make sure nothing small fell out of the basket over time and is laying on the floor in the rear of the freezer section. Once done, you should be fine.

SOURCE: the bottom crisper in my refrigerator is freezing everything....w

Look all the way to the rear of the control console in the fresh food compartment. Look up into the opening with a mirror. There should be a styrofoam diffuser (61005543) visible. If this is missing or damaged (many people think it packing material and remove it) it needs to be replaced. It spreads the air out rather than let it go right down the back wall to the crisper area.
One other thing to check is a tiny slot at the right rear of the same control console. a metered flow of air comes out the slot to the barrel shaped cylinder with the cold control capillary wrapped around it. Sometimes the slot gets water in it and freezes over. The unit will run too long and the cold air will settle during the off cycle and freeze items at the bottom. More often than not, when the slot freezes over, other items in the fresh food compartment will freeze......not just the bottom items.

I'm trying to clean the top of the pantry drawer in my 795-72053 refrigerator. Liquid has seeped between the clear plastic and the white. How can I remove this piece to clean it?

You have two drawers side by side that are called the crisper bins and one long drawer at the bottom typically called the deli drawer. I think what you are asking is how to separate the front (clear part) of the drawer from the back (white part) ,right?

Usually there are snap tabs that need to be pushed in to release the two pieces but I need to say that they are very fragile and break quite easily so be careful!

I would try soaking the drawer to get whatever it is cleared from it and let it dry completely. Keep in mind that there is usually a left and right specific drawer so if it doesn't fit then do not force it!

I need a right hand crisper draw for a Samsung refridgerator model srf680cdls

Hello Kate Nicholas,

Your model srf680cdls... does not respond domestically in the USA... If you provide your ACTUAL PART NUMBER I could attempt to check CRISPER availability ... here (you appear to have an "AU" model.

Just looking around the large plastic body would appear to cost about $60 (USA)... I'm pretty sure we share the MANY of the same internal part numbers..

There are 2 plastic extrusions that clip in place. Pull sharply forward, or lever the sides gently up and down with a flat screwdriver above the bits that clip in. The bulb unscrews.

How do I clean around the rim of the refrigerator drawers?

Samsung draws are removable, but they are a pain and have to be pulled out, then lift up which allows you to bet the nylon wheel guide to dip under stops, and sometimes takes a little force taking out, and putting back in.

How to completely clean the Crisper drawer

I don't know if you've already figured out how to remove the front panel on your refrigerator crisper bin, but here it is. Once the drawer is removed, pull back those clips on the top left & right of the front of the drawer.Just hold the side and pull back at the same time, then you can remove it. Once both side have been released you should be able to remove the clear plastic front and clean both pieces. I hope that is clear enough. Best of luck, unless of course you've already discovered the answer yourself.

No water from dispenser

I could not locate any white tank where the water comes to/from. There is only a clear plastic water line behind the crisper drawers, that is coiled up and goes up to the water filter at the top on one end, and down through the bottom of the fridge on the other. The coiled line seemed like perhaps it was frozen, so I took a hair dryer to that but it didn't help. I also tried removing the cardboard cover in the bottom back of the fridge, to see if perhaps the white tank was back there, but it was only
more line, which goes towards the front of the fridge, where it goes up into the corner of the door.
