Could be 1 of 2 things. 1st, the compressor is bad and not building pressure or the system has no Freon in it. If the compressor is bad then throw it out and get another one, not worth fixing. If low on Freon you will need to buy line taps, the Freon used in unit and will need a set of ac gauges and a vacuum pump. By the time you buy the tools needed to fix it would be cheaper to buy another one unless you already own the tools. A dehumidifier is nothing more than a air conditioner that works backwards like a heat pump.

See if there is a float switch in the unit that may be stuck.

Coils can freeze if the room is extremely hot. Usually, though they freeze because the path for air flow is reduced. Check input and output grilles and coils for dirt and dust and clean as necessary.

I have had a AD75UST0 WHIRLPOOL Dehumidifier for several years. If it actually still runs, I would suggest you take off covers and give the coils a good thorough cleaning. Otherwise the units are not designed to be serviceable aka - "disposable small appliance". if you do dispose of it take it to a qualified recycle organization for Freon products.

sounds like a faulty humidistat, but may also be nearly out of freon. I have a GE unit that is also a portable air conditioner...works great for 5 years now...
