Auto tuner detects no signals

TV worked great for 3 yrs. One day picture acted like cable had been disconnected (it hadn't) then on channel came back on then it was on all the channels then nothing. I've unplugged everything, held the power button for a minute to reset it, double checked input, and auto tuner still detects no signal. Coax cable connection is fine - works on other TV. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Sounds like the main system control memory IC to this device is faulty. It does not store the programs. Contact any service technician to replace it. Electro help

SOURCE: Cnannel scan detects no channels

Kingscott,
Make sure the cable connection from the dish to the tv is
connected to the antenna/cable input and not the digital
input. Turn on the satellite receiver then auto program the
set with the receiver still on. If this fails to lock in channel
3 your suspicion regarding a faulty tuner could be correct.
A good way to check the tuner operation would be to hook
up another product such as a VCR with the rear switch set
for channel 3 and see if you can receive a picture from this
device. If it works the tuner is OK.
You can bypass the tuner by connecting an S-Video cable
and (or) a set of A/V (yellow, red & white) cables from the
output of the satellite receiver to the video 1 input on the tv.
You'll then have to switch the tv source mode to video 1.
Hope this of some help,
Caseybee

Auto tuner detects no signals

D a reset to this set, and check. If it do not help you, the main system control memory IC to this set is faulty, and should he replaced. Contact any service technician. There are two types of reset to TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight; will be better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
Service mode entry, adjust and exit procedure to many popular brand TVs are given. Never forget to exit the service mode, after all adjustments have been done.

My Sony Bravia television froze on a digital picture today and now when I change channels there is no picture and no sound. I tried to do a digital scan and it picked up no digital signals,. The analogue...

Hi,

Your TV has a dual tuner - one for analogue and one for digital although they are contained on the same tuner board. It's possible that the digital tuner has failed, in which case the tuner board will most likely need to be replaced, but often this problem can be resolved with a "hard" reset. Turn the TV off and unplug it. Remove all the cables from the back, leave it for at least 5 minutes and then re-connect only the cable from the tuner source. i.e aerial/antenna. Make sure you are in Digital TV mode (DTV), then run the channel scan again.

If it works turn the TV off, re-connect all of your other devices and you should be able to resume using the TV as normal.

If this doesn't work, you may need to have the digital tuner replaced. The analogue and digital channel feeds are from the same source. As the analogue channels are working there is no obvious fault with the feed or cables.

Please try this first and then post back for further assistance if needed.

BElectric

Check your manual to see if it has 2 tuners, digital and analog. If it doesn't have a digital tuner, you will need a converter box.

Tuner will not pick up cable box on channel 3, front and rear AV

In order for the TV to work with the cable box by using a piece of coax and tuning the TV to channel 3, you must make sure the TV is in "Cable" mode on the tuner and not "AIR or Antenna" the frequency maps are different between these types of service and channel 3 cable will not be the same as channel 3 on Air or UHF/VHF.

Often there is an auto program feature on TV's that will "scan" for all available channels, and this should select the proper input type.

Hope this helps!

No signal

Check is RF Antena/ Cable connected? If yes, go to TV Menu and select Auto-Program. TV will start tuning and search all available channels on cable/ on-air. If there is no channel reception, TV has defective Tuner. If you know basic electronics knowledge, replace the Tuner or contact nearest Sony repair shop.

Blue Screen

Hello,
I just wanted to suggest some things for you to try, if you have not done them already. Try hooking up a known good signal, such as the main input cable from your cable or dish, hook it straight to your tv, and see if you can change channels, and get a picture on low band...2 thru 6, and then if not, how about any picture above channel 6, if you get picture on 2 thru 13 now, it could be whatever you have hooked in between the input cable and the tv...be sure you have the tv on the right channel for your receiver, usually 3 or 4, or if you are using another type of video input cable, make sure you have tv on the right input for that cable and that cable is good...check the in and out of your component unit, for correct cable hookup as well as your cables, in reference to using RCA video and audio left and right in and out...a lot of sets and vcr's will go to a blue screen if they lose signal to them....I hope this helps you out some.If you cannot get a picture from hooking your signal straight to your tv, it could be the tuner got a spike from a thunderstorm, or has lost the B Plus source for the tuner circuit. Be sure that it is not selected for an input signal, other than the cable or antenna mode, the onscreen text should verify this, if you can change channels with or without getting video...a picture....Good luck with it. T.

Problem w60 inch using hdtv cable box

i know this problem, happened to me with the comcast Motorola HD receiver box. The key is with the setting in the cable box. Switch on the TV. Set the channel to normal tuner channel 3 or HD input. Turn off the cable HD box. Press the Menu Button on the Cable box or the remote. You should see a Menu. Use the cursor keys to navigate The default setup is also one of the option, Right click on your cursor keys acts like the computer keyboard enter key and applies the change. The default setup is 16:9, the shacking would happen if you have set the picture type to "PAN SCAN". change it to either 16:9 or 4:3 Letter Box. The shacking should stop. Hope it helps.
