Hi,

This generally means you have a hardware failure in the drive or enclosure. The simplest way to test which is to have a hardware tech move the drive into a new enclosure and see if it works.

This will void your warranty if you do it, so, if the drive is under warranty and there are no files you consider valuable on the drive, call the manufacturer for warranty support.

If you value the data more than the drive is worth then take it to your local hardware vendor and ask them to test the hard drive in a new enclosure. Good odds it will work this way but if not you may need the help of a data recovery specialist.

In North America I use Armor-IT, if you are in a different region and the new enclosure fails to garner results, comment back with your region(Country, State, City) and I will supply you with the closest reputable facility.

Computer doesnt recognize drive

Try a different usb port on the computer. Maybe the usb port you are using is bad.

Try the portable drive on another computer and see if it is recognized. If not, the portable drive might be defective.

My computer is not recognizing the drive when I plug it in.

Hi did you try in other computer if yes and still didnt work do you listen any noise on the hard drive .
another thing to do to be sure that the usb ports are working fine in your computer its not been disabled bu bios or an antivirus please plug a flash drive or other hard drive in the computer and see if it gets recognized if yes then your system dosent have any issue .and check the hard drive if it dosent get recognized in the other computer also then may be the partitiontable is corrupt or your iomega hard drive case has problem.
To remove data from your hard drive in the worse case u need to remove the hard drive and plug it to the system directly and check
Thanks
