SOURCE: Chain saw starts with starting fluid only but will not run.

Hi lwhssh:
Suggest you drain the fresh gas/oil and add a fresh batch but first add a gas stabilizer to your batch of gas/oil in the storage container. You will probably still need to use starting fluid for a few times When 2 cycle engines sit for a long period of time, the gas/oil mixture undergoes a change and tends to leave a residue on the delicate parts of the carb. The gas stabilizer will help that.

I always do the following for 2 cycle engines when I put them up for the winter. Empty the gas container on the device and then start it to use up any gas left in the fuel lines and carb. this keeps any residue from forming.

Hope this helps Good luck Loringh PS please leave a rating if appropriate. Thanks

Is 40.1 the correct oil mixture for huskvara chain saw

The owners manuals for all Husqvarna products in the US call for a 50:1 fuel ratio. That being said, there are lots of opinions out there... Some believe that extra oil is good protection and promotes longevity of the machine. Some of the confusion may come from the fact that Husky equipment is distributed world wide and some countries specify a more oily mix like 40:1 or even 33:1. A support person explained it to me that different countries have different grades and quality of fuel... If you don't mind a little more smoke and maybe shorter plug life a little extra oil won't hurt, but you may not get maximum power from the device.

What kind of oil or oil mixture do I need to use my Remington 2.0 HP 14" Electric Chain Saw?

Hi brown9148..
The only oil you need for your electric chain saw is "Bar and Chain" oil...specially formulated oil sold at Loews,HomeDepot,Ace Hardware, Auto parts stores,etc...
You use this oil to lubricate the chain and bar of your chainsaw when you are using it.
It will go into the oil tank and auto feed to the chain and bar...but keep a check on the oil level to make sure it is being used.
Refill tank when needed.

What is the correct fuel/oil mixture for an older Eager ****** 16 inch chain saw?

It really depends on the model number of your Eager Beav er unit. Anything within the last 6 years is 50 to 1 older models can be anywhere from 25 to 1, to 32 - 1 up to 40 - 1. t all depends on the model number.

The usual fuel mixture is 40 - 1 or 3.2 oz. per gallon.

Your chain saw would have to be pre-1995 to use a mixture greater than 40-1. If your chain saw is other than that then use a 32 - 1 ratio. 4.oz per gal.

This is a great fuel mixture calculator:

If you know your model number you can use this page to get an owners / operators manual:

No problem; using a borrowed Husqvarna 44-don't know fuel mixtures (if any). The chamber for "oil"-is that engine oil (if so, what do you recommend) or chain saw oil (if not, is there another...

The mix fuel mix is 40:1. Use Husqvarna 2 stroke oil not the cheap stuff on sale at car service stations. The chamber for oil is for chain oil which can be bought at most places that sell or hire machinery like chainsaws, lawnmowers etc.

Do not know what mixture or how to use

40:1 mixture for the fuel:oil ratio.16:1 will cause your saw to barely run(if at all) and if it does, will fog out every mosquito for 4 blocks. You can use any reputable 2-stroke oil, though stay away from outboard engine oil. Get the good stuff that says Stihl, or Husquavarnah, or something like that. Even the Homelite stuff is ok. The oil tank takes regular bar and chain oil.

Lost manual need to know what kind/weight oil does the Remington 16" chain saw require?

Any good quality chain saw 'bar' oil is suitable and it does not need to be an expensve brand either: it is highly recommended that you use a specially blended chain saw 'bar' oil but in emergency you can you fresh 'thick' (e.g. older) car engine oil but don't make it a habit as your chain and bar will wear off a lot faster!

What kind of oil do I use in the oil reservoir of my chain saw?

I believe the reservoir you are talking about is for the bar chain oil. You can get it most anywhere. As for mixing the gas and oil mixture, you will need 2 cycle oil. It is available most everywhere also. Most modern chain saws use a 50:1 mixing ratio which means 2 1/2 ounces of oil to 1 gallon of gas. Hope this helps.
