Does it run? Does it stop running? Does the pressure gauge read anything at all? Is there a regulator on it? Can you take the reg off? A bunch of things to check, get it running and let me know what you find, and I will try to tell you what's next.

SOURCE: Craftsman air compressor 1 HP 12 gal 125 psi

this is probably an "oilless" compressor, it has "piston" with a thin ring of leatherlike material acting as a piston ring, the "cylinder" is an aluminum sleeve - what usually happens is the cylinder gets scratched from dirt or just wear or the leather ring deteriorates, that's why it will go only so far - the only fix for this is to replace the cylinder and the piston

SOURCE: my craftsman air compressor #919176820 2 HP 12 gallon 200 max psi will not compress over 125 psi

If your compressor is oil-less type, most likely pressure is leaking past piston ring. To verify, remove cover to expose bottom of cylinder (unplug compressor and let out all air). With flashlight, examine the upper-most part of the cylinder (turn motor by hand till piston is at top of stroke). If top of cylinder is scratched, then pressure is leaking past.
For many years now, stores are in a race to have more HP and PSI to attract customers. Customer is really the loser because components used to make the units can not handle the higher pressure. Normally small 115v compressors are set to cut out at 125psi and larger two stage units will cut out at 160psi. Small compressor set to 200psi makes for short lived compressor. Could be compared to driving your car at 100mph all day every day. Longest life is attained when unit is being used at about 60 to 75 % of capacity.
To allow your compressor to reach cutout pressure and keep working for a while, lower cutout to 120psi (pressure switch may be adjustable). To restore to 200psi, replace cylinder/ ring.
If your compressor is oil type, suspect leaking reed valves.

HP Laser Jet 4250, print getting very light in last few months or year. 135K page count, 6 years old, 600 DPI, PCL 5 - Windows Vista HP Cartridge, or compatible cartridge no difference - still light No...

The laser mirror could be dirty, the transfer roller could need changing. Looking at the "print quality" sub menu, the toner density default setting is 3. Up it to 4 or 5. See if that makes a difference. Remove the cartridge and open the covers. Use canned air or an air compressor and blow out the printer.

I have an older Sears Craftsman air compressor 1hp, 100 psi twin cyl Model 106.154541. on the cyl base there is an oil fill directly across from this on the opposite side of the cyl base there is another...

The pump used on your compressor was incorporated into different designs thus needed access to oil fill from one side or the other. Part number for oil plug was std-220 or 27642, but you can use just regular standard pipe thread plug with square head. If the oil plug fits the other hole. Buy plumbing parts at Lowes. Good Luck

I have a Sears 5 hp 25 gal tank, about 20 years old air compressor, it's been leaking out of an air release valve at the end of the smaller air line coming off the compressor side of it. Me in all my...

If this compressor is indeed 20 + years old you should be able to go to a hardware store or auto parts store and buy tubing (steel or coper) compression fittings and ferrals and complete the repair yourself for under $20.

If this is not what you want to do visit your local automotive repair shop and they should be able to help you. Use a privately owned shop not a dealership.

I have a Kenmore 54701 dehumidfier, less than 2 year old. the power is on, a fan seems to be running, I no longer hear a compressor turn and, and no water is collected?

The sealed system of the Kenmore 54701 dehumidifier is warranted (Parts & Labor) by Sears for five (5) years. Since the fan in your unit runs but the compressor doesn't, I suggest that you return it to Sears and request (demand) a new replacement unit under their warranty. I say "demand" because Sears will undoubtedly tell you that the problem is due to some "other" component which is not covered, and will charge you mega-bucks to repair it. Been there - - done that.

FYI, read the (very low) customer reviews of these units on Sears website and you'll see you're not alone in your experience with Sears' inferior quality units.

Above all, do NOT pay to have it repaired. That money is better spent on the purchase of a far more reliable brand of dehumidifier - - (which will most likely cost less that what you paid for the Sears unit).

I bought a Frigidare refrigerator today. Warranty needed?

its really just up to you. I am a service tech in grants pass oregon and i know compressors dont last anymore. Its because in the last 10 years they have switched from r12 freon to 134a. 134a has higher head pressures which make the compressor go out. If the compressor warranty isnt too much money i would do that warranty. You dont really need the others.
