I don't think that it is possible to remove the battery without disassembling the mp3 player.
However, if you would just like to reset it press and hold the MENU/Power button for at least 10 seconds. This should unfreeze it.
If it is still not responsive, wait for the battery to die and then plug it into your computer and restore it.
Remove the battery .... remove the adapter plug ... now push the start button and hold it on for about 30 seconds. That should reset the system. Plug the adapter in and see if that cleared it ... if it didn't Remove the adapter jack and leave the battery out over night
hello, press down on power button and hold it for about 10-15 seconds and it should shut-off, wait for about 5 seconds before turning it back on. If for some reason holding down power button doesn't shut it off, then simple unplug the power from the laptop and then flip the laptop upside down and locate the battery eject lever(little slider switch to kick out the battery) slide it to the unlock position and remove battery. Once again wait for about 5 seconds and plug the battery back in and then the power adapter and power on your laptop.
Tip: try copying few files at a time to get a better success rate and avoid any failures.

ok last resort. pull the power, and the battery and hold the power button down for about three minutes- this might clear any residual power issues and works great on hp's. Other than that is sounds like you have tried everything and it might be time for a new laptop.
