I have a vertical strip about 3/16" wide about 3/4" from the left side of the page that will not print in the black only. I have replaced the black toner and black drum unit, and it is still there.

The LED Assembly LU5831001 is probably bad. This machine has 4 LED assemblies mounted in the top cover. It doesn't use a laser scanner.

To troubleshoot, you can clean them, then swap them between colors before you buy it.

Good chance the High voltage power supply is bad. Not worth repairing. A new unit costs about 259.00.

SOURCE: black mark on right side of paper

You either have some white out or some other dirt on the scanner or some sections of the scanner are bad. Open the area where your originals feed into, and look for about a 1/2 inch wide strip of glass, that is the scanner window. When that gets dirty, or fails, that causes the problem. Most likley dirty, some whiteout or ink on the scan window.

SOURCE: Black line on faxes

Check carefully the glass, a very small point of ink or anything else can cause the black stripe. usually  it is that the problem. use windex to clean it.

first, take drum unit out and make sure the blueish-purple colored plastic tab on top of drum is all the way to the left side. if thats not the culprit, then you are most likely looking at a bad contact image sensor or CIS.

OPEN THE BACK OF THE PRINTER AND LOOK INSIDE THE FUSER, AND CHECK IF YOU HAVE 3/16" BLACK mark on the HEAT ROLLER. knowing the position of the FUSER (HOT PART); PRINT A JOB AND OPEN THE COVER BEFORE IT REACHS FUSER, IF THE 3/16" STRIP ISN'T THERE that means it really is the FUSER.

Getting black strip about 9/16"

it may be due to either malfunctioning of the scanner tube within the printer itself or whenever you copy a certain page the lid is not properly pace resulting to excess light on that side giving you black line when the copying is in process

Printing vertical grayish black ink on the left and right side of page

replace the toner cartridge, you wont have anything "dripping" out of it as the toner inside is a powder. if it still appears replace the fuser.

Copying with page feed results in a vertical line on every page

There must be a strip of glass about one inch wide, next to
the large glass. There is the problem !
Clean that strip thourougly. When you use the feeder the pages
are scanned thru the small strip of glass.
