SOURCE: Sony KP-51HW40 51 in. Rear Projection turns blue

Hello......
First reduse the G2 voltage for the blue c.r.t,and watch if the unit works for longer period (offcource blue colour will be not present). After reducing G2 voltage to blue c.r.t still behaves the same than c.r.t is faulty and you have to replace.
Pls count the red led blinking when it goes off, incase it goes to std by mode.

SOURCE: TV screen goes blank but power stays on

Sounds like the CRTs are going into protective blanking due to the vertical output ic needing to be resolderd. Try resoldering the vertical IC that may possibly fix the issue.

SOURCE: stanby light blinks 5 times

The sight in Jean's posting could help. Usually 5 blinks signify that the voltage is too low so you may actually have to turn the knobs up then back them off just until the retrace lines disappear. If one color dominates and you see retrace lines, you may want to turn that one down. But if the dominating color doesn't show retrace lines the other 2 might need to be increased slightly. If you Google Sony TV flashing led codes most likely you will come across an explanation of the codes. Hope this helps.

Please keep in mind many things can go wrong with TV sets and you should really do a lot of research before attempting any adjustment and or repair. There are high voltages present in some areas and they can reside even when the set is unplugged.

The screen turns blue after about 2 minutes of turning on the TV

Sony TVs has an Optical Block issue. If there is an issue with the optical block, then there will be green, blue patches or tint on the TV display. Try resetting the TV to the factory settings and try Power resetting the TV. Turn Off the TV and remove the power plug from the wall outlet for 1 minute and reconnect it and check the operation. If the issue still persists, then TV may require service. You can contact the Customer relations team and check for the available options. Sony had repaired free of cost for such issues. Hence, contact the customer relations.

Fading blue screen

You may have a bad blue picture tube but there is a way to deal with this first---This is a 2003 model ---I did one of these with the same problem a week ago---the set has a black plastic block with six controls---three are Focus(red, green, blue) the other 3 controls are Screen controls(red, green, blue) Someone has to remove the entire piece on the front of the set below the screen(usually a plastic part) most of the time it is secured with 3 screws on either side of the set in the back; once you remove the screws the entire piece should pull out(pull from right to left(it will not fall off or come out easy--it is held in with several large plastic pegs) With it removed there is an inspection plate with 4 screws-----the screen/focus block is behind it.

You need to look very closely at the block to identify the focus versus screen controls----one row left to right will be marked Focus and the other row left to right will be marked screen------YOU need to locate the Blue Screen control(they are black like the block) With the set on(be careful) go to a video input with nothing connected---if you see a blue screen as well as the input number turn the BLUE SCREEN CONTROL SLOWLY TO THE LEFT UNTIL THE BLUE is gone.

If this cures the problem you may only be buying yourself some time----if the blue picture tube is bad sooner or later this trouble may return----I have seen sets where this was adjusted and the set worked for a year or more with no repeat of the trouble----replacing the blue tube would likely cost you 400 - 500 parts and labor.

Picture comes on then fades to blue

Check the info from this website to see if you are able to fix your TV. You should turn the blue screen control down slightly counterclockwise. If that did not work, then more likely you have a video amplifier IC defective or a blue CRT.

Blue screen

this problem is due to blue video circuit. 1 Please check supply to blue video ckt. 2 check crt base for loose. 3 check loose contact & parts related to blue cathode. 4 blue signal coming from processor to blue video. 5 processor it self. 6 at last if tv is very old than check crt also.(possibility is rear) hope this will help.

FADING TO BLUE SCREEN

Sounds like you have a problem with the blue gun in your picture tube or its drive circuit. You might remove the back cover and gently tap on the neck of the picture tube using a plastic screwdriver handle while watching the screen in a mirrow. If the picture flashes back on or on and off then the picture tube is the problem. If this is a projection tv you have three separate tubes : red, green & blue. you'd need to tap the blut one.Gently!!!! Stargazer
