Viewsonic PJ558D shuts off after a few seconds

Hello, I have a Viewsonic PJ558D projector that the color wheel shattered. I replaced the color wheel, but now the projector turns on for a few seconds, the lamp does not go on, and then it shuts off. I have taken it apart many times and I checked that all connections were secure. I still cannot get it to go on. Any suggestions?

Sounds like the ballast board for the lamp stopped working.

Our ViewSonic PJ558 is emitting yellow light. The whole display is in yellow already. Please help.

If the yellow is perfectly uniform across the whole screen, then a processor problem may be present.
If the lamp is very old then this could be a problem.
Otherwise an optical part has deteriated due to overheating

Are LED conversions coming for the older Projectors? I have a Viewsonic pj5558D. I need a new bulb, but would love to see if an LED version exists...

Not for a while yet. You'll need to use the "standard" lamp. Do not forget to reset the lamp timer when you change the lamp.

Shattered color wheel

The color wheels for these projectors can run anywhere from $50-$150 plus installation. With projectors now in the 3-400 range it may actually cost less to replace instead of repair.

Color wheel for a 4805

I've encountered this same issue. I had a large Yellow Line down the left side of the screen for a few months. It got bigger and bigger, then one day I was using it and Bam! What sounded like a fire cracker was my color wheel exploding. I also had the rubbing sound, or at least something similar to that sound prior to the explosion. InFocus quoted me about $300 to fix..
