My handset displays "please don't pick up handset".. If I pick it up there is no dial tone & all incoming calls go straight to voicemail. If I leave it in the cradle it will allow calls if I put it on speaker whilst it's in the cradle, if I take it off to answer them it completely rejects the call. It's a uniden dect 6.0 (dect11635)

Tried new batteries?

It's not the battery, if I take it off the cradle the handset display screen appears as normal but just won't allow incoming or outgoing calls. When I attempt a call it just says "connecting" & doesn't give me a dial tone

But you can make a call while docked?

  • Alyssa Nov 19, 2014

No, I can only answer while its docked

  • flobb Nov 19, 2014

Alyssa, reading a few manuals for these types of phones, this happens when the battery is low in the handset. I think they are no longer holding enough charge to operate corectly see this urlhttp://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q...

its a pdf, look at page 16

  • flobb Nov 19, 2014

unfortunataly it is a unique battery, otherwise i would suggest trying two AA batteries without docking the phone

I have experienced this same problem, the issue is that the power to the base is off and the base is now relying on the battery power to keep it powered so that you can make calls.
Check you power supply is plugged in correctly at both ends and, if need be, if there is power to the outlet.
Once power is re-established the led charge indicator will light up on the handset and you will be able to make and receive calls again with out leaving the handset in the cradle and using the speaker phone function.

When using phone I cannot call out , it gives me a fast dial tone , but I can get incoming calls

Does the fast dial tone persist, or do you get a regular dial tone after a couple of seconds? If the latter, then you have unheard messages on the voicemail system provided by your telephone company. This system records messages when someone calls while you're already on the phone. Please contact your telephone company for instructions on accessing their voicemail system.

I cannot receive faxes on my lexmark X4270. It will ring but nothing come through

Please go through the following checklists:
  • Make sure the that the fax line is working. To check, insert a telephone device straight to the fax line. You should get a dial tone.
  • Make sure the telephone cord from the phone jack in the wall is plugged into the Line port on the back of your Lexmark printer.
  • Assign the correct fax number on the printer.
  • If you have an answering machine connected to the same line as the fax, set the answering machine to answer incoming calls before the printer does. Increase the number of rings by a factor of 3 over the answering machine. For example, if the answering machine is set to pick up on 4 rings, set the printer to pick up on 7 rings.
  • If you have a voicemail feature in the same line as the fax, you may subscribe from your phone service provider for a distinctive ring pattern feature. You can program your printer to have a distinctive ring pattern and phone number for incoming faxes.
If these don't help, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for additional assistance.

Phone sees call, but can't pick-up. Can't get d-tone to call out?

Just a suggestion (without knowing what troubleshooting steps from your manual you may have taken): Remove the batteries from the back of the handset and then put them back in after a few moments. My Panasonic KX-TGA8231B (DECT6.0) phones were acting up just like your Uniden is. All functions returned after this power interrupt "reset" with the batteries was done. Hope that helps. Good luck. - - -Gerry

Panasonic DECT 6.0 always says "New Voicemail"

Try pressing and holding the MUTE (CLEAR) button until the handset beeps. Then clear all incoming calls.

Mitel 5212 no dial tone and goes straight to voicemail

Not too sure about the no dial tone issue, but you can check to see if the DND is turned on...
Press the Blue Superkey and scroll thru till you see DND (Do Not Disturb) is on and shut it off.

To turn the blue light off

What worked for me was to call my phone and leave a voicemail. I then retrieved and deleted my voicemail which reset my handsets.

I hope this helps!
