No power supply to "board" possibly 24vac, or an air type of control, so that the air supply pump is not active. Possibly the power supply to the pump and control board has "popped" the
circuit breaker. Check, the circuit breaker. There may also be a GFI Ground Fault Indicator that acts like a circuit breaker but is more sensitive, especially near water. Look at the receptacle that the motor plugs into. GFI has a test button and a reset button.
It could be that the faulty cord burned your built in gfi internal switch must like a gfi breaker that gets burn off and never resets . Replacing the cord as you did is a smart move since I would never place an appliance on a gfi receptacle .
1- You likely overheated the motor find the small red button on the end of the motor and push it after the motor cools down some 2- You tripped a circuit breaker in the electric panel, go to the panel and look for the breaker that does not line up with the rest of them and move it off then back on. 3- If your outlet has a GFI on it go reset the GFI reset button.
This sounds like you have a bad motor. You should take it to a motor shop and have them check the windings or the bearings. Something inside the motor is causing the GFI to trip.
Did you try an electric motor rebuilder? $500 seems too high to repair a motor. Motors have either a capacitor or dual windings to get them started and it sounds like yours has failed. Get the numbers off the MOTOR and call a motor rebuilder in your area for pricing.

If by "trips the breaker" you mean the GFI then you are leaking current to ground, GFI's trip when there is an imbalance between the current going to the motor on the HOT side and returning from the motor on the NEUTRAL side, if it is tripping the GFI it is likely the sign of a failing motor.
Look behind the tub cover, it should have one. You should be looking for a GFCI it sounds like. These are the outlet that you generally have in your kitchen. They have a reset button and it just sounds like it needs to be reset.
If the seals are damaged, water will leak into motor section and cause GFI to trip and yet the pump will seem that it is running fine if plugged into a non-GFI receptacle
