I have used 3 fresh batteries and the power adapter. Nothing happens when I flip the power switch on. I sent the camera into Canon and they returned it saying that they no longer repair this camera. Does someone know how to tear into this and fix it?

The battery is probably so dead it is using all the power from the wall supply. Remove the battery, and run only from the wall supply.

I have the same problem on my Canon XH-A1 and sony TRV33. I wonder if this problem applies to all camcorders?

Ebay seems the cheapest option - plenty of replacement spares for HG10.
Otherwise you can try ordering direct from Canon spares, but chances are it will be expensive.
Good luck,
Raf

Possible main fuse blown. It's made by littelfuse and is very small but not impossible to replace. It's suggested if you solder a new one on top of the existing blown fuse due to its size. Also ensure all ribbon cables are properly seated or it may result in blowing the main fuse.
