Remove battery
Press and HOLD Eject as you place battery back on (so its the first command it recognizes with power) and try to eject. If it does not come out, camera will need service to remove tape or fix gears

SOURCE: cannot find driver for jvc GR-D720 Mini Dv digital camera please help!

If it's a JVC GR-D72, then it's MiniDV. Connect the camcorder via firewire to your PC

SOURCE: JVC camera software GR-D70 for windows vista

Like most I have searched the web for drivers, preferably free ones. I emailed JVC Australia who responded with tis solution.

The camera has a connection called DV. The DV connection is used with a cable called Firewire.
Firewire is a driver less cable and will allow you to stream you video footage across from the camera to your PC.

USB is used for data transfer and need drivers, you would use this mainly to transfer still images or data files off a HDD camera.
If you use firewire and the DV connection you will stream the footage across to the PC and the PC will capture the footage as it is playing.

The firewire is about $15 and can be purchase from stores such as **** Smith, Bing Lee, Harvey Normans and Tandy. I would suggest that you take a photo of the connections on your PC as there are two types of DV connections. (4pin - 6pin)

SOURCE: JVC Camcorder Model # GR-D270U

I thought this was a camera issue, but it ended up being a tape issue. So it shouldn't matter if you have the same model of the JVC mini camcorder as I did or not. Anyway, the tape has a tab that "locks" the tape to keep from recording over it accidently. I moved that tab and it started working. If your tape is stuck in the camera, you may have lost the tape already. Try to get it out of the camera without damaging the tape or the camera...more importantly the camera. You may have to take it to a professional to prevent damage. If you get it out undamaged, check to see if the tape is locked or not. Move the tab and try the tape in the camera again (unless you're afraid of it getting stuck again). In that case, try it in another camera. That's how I discovered that this was a tape issue rather than a camera issue...because I tried the same tape in a different camera and got the same error message. Don't despair if your tape comes out with part of it sticking out or crumpled, as long as it's not broken, you can salvage it. Even if it's broken, you can probably salvage the majority of the tape by taping it back together (call a professional, you may need special tape for this), just don't touch any of the undamaged tape or pull it out of the cassette too far and all you will lose is the damaged portion. I actually couldn't see the tab well enough to tell if it was in locked or unlocked mode since it's so tiny and my close-up vision is getting blurry, but I moved the tab to opposite of what it was and that seemed to do the trick. My mistake was in trying to save money with the cheaper tapes...next time I'll spend a little extra for the better tapes to avoid all this headache. Hope this helped. Have a great day!

Jvc digital video camera mini dv gr-d244u

I have had the same problem...usually had success by taking off the battery, putting it back on, turning the power off and on, etc.  It has always gone back in eventually.  I also tried re-charging the battery and replacing.  Could this be an old battery problem?  Mine is 4.5 years old.

Dirty video head! Playback newly opened blank tape for five minutes, after that eject, reinsert, playback then eject again five times, these will serve as your video head cleaner, never use "video head cleaning cassette tape" for it will only damage your camera. Most camera has built in video head cleaner installed inside and activates only when you insert, initial play/rec, and ejects a tape. If the problem is still there you need pro fix then.[:0)

Blur in viewfinder

Hi, i had the same problem and was suggested i visited the JVC website, this could be the manufacturers error reported on their web site. Failure of the CCD image sensor. Check JVC UK web site, support centre, if your camcorder has the problems listed, until 01/10/07 they will cover repairs. Mine now works ok. Hope this helps
