Keeps switching over into a vibrate mode and then the whole phone freezes until i take the battery out and restarts it.It only works for a short while and does the same thing.Is it a virus and how do i fix it?

check did you have memory card "bigger than 1 gb" installed
than remove memory cards,sim cards too
after removing its - start phone and perform full reset with code.
dialing *2767*3855#
but in your phone it will look like *2767*---- after clicking # phone will start full reset
after that return your cards in phone and start using it as new one.
