I managed to locate a manual for your TV and also a Support page on the Sony website which identified your problem clearly on two entries ie "The STAND BY indicator on the front of the projection television flashes three times" and "The STAND BY indicator on the projection television flashes 3 times". I thought this was going to be easy having found these, but both led to a page that said "This solution is no longer available". Thank you Sony !!!!
I didn't give up here found a YouTube video which described your "3 flashes" and stated that the bulb needed replacement if this was seen. I understand that the model is not exactly as yours but I give the link below:

Please look at it carefully because it looks as if - if this is correct - that you may have replaced one faulty bulb with another faulty bulb. Other than this I can't find anything very helpful on the internet.

4 times blink error shows that any FAN is not running in TV as there are 4 fans in this TV.
Please check fan connectors and make sure all are plugged securely.

there is a class action lawsuit against sony. its called the optical block. contact sony to see if your unit is covered under the sony extended warranty. they will fix it for free. if not they may help on getting you a replacement at a discounted price. you may have to get a little mean to get satisfaction . If standby light flash 3 times that means Lamp Cover is open or not fixed properly on its place.
Please make sure lamp cover is fixed securely.
