I have had this camera for 5 years and at present taking a photography class. When I am trying to shoot in manual mode I can not always adjust the filter. Sometimes it works easily and other times it just continues to blink an the numbers will not move.
I'm afraid you are mixing up a few things. In manual mode you can choose aperture, and shutter time yourself. You can't use any filter in Manual mode. To be save, check what the camera would choose in P, and work from there choose the Aperture and the time and if you half one of them double the other one and visa versa.
Filters only can be used in filet mode.
Please check your manual. (it is still online, if you lost yours)

Okay at least the memory card isn't locked or it wouldn't be taking any pictures. Couple things one is did your format the memory card before using it? Do you format the memory card after downloading pictures to the computer? Do you just unplug the USB cable or remove the memory card from a card reader before doing a safe disconnect? What I believe is that you delete and delete and delete pictures from the card and it's not corrupted with a lot of useless data residue. Short answer to your problem is format the memory card in the camera you intend to use it in. Have a great day
