Aprilaire keeps running, except when I turn the know very low. I have an extra humidistat, so I changed it out but that did not change anything.
My system's variable speed blower runs on low all the time. I want my Aprilaire 700 Automatic to run 24/7 just like the blower fan. I live in Colorado and we constantly shock anything we touch because the outside and indoor relative humidity is too low. How can I wire it, so it stays on all the time and I will adjust the humidistat myself. I will either manually set it or control it with the humidistat. I want it to run all the time unless I turn it all the way down or turn the unit off myself. Someone told me not to buy the Automatic model but get the manual model but I want the controller. Any ideas. email is [email protected]
The best way to wire it would be great. I think i would just wire it to run off the G terminal since the fan is on continuous blower mode of low from Bryant Evolution Connex thermostat. Thank you!!
Is this a newly installed unit it sounds as if there's a wiring issue. Could you show a picture of the wiring terminals. If this is not a new install try turning of your furnace fan.
SOURCE: Aprilaire 600 - change water panel light stays on
Turn the control knob to the test/reset position untill the change water panel light blinks to reset the change panel timer. Make shure the furnace is running calling for heat.Turn control knob to prior setting after resetting timer. Hope this helps.

you can bypass the humidistat by shorting the 2 brown wires on the bottom of the humidifier. just remove the 2 wire nuts and touch the 2 together (just 24v)if it comes on then there is a control problem with the humidistat or wiring if it doesnt come on the control board or transformer may be bad or you dont have 120v to the humidifier on the plug. also make sure your furnace blower is running cause the hum cant come on if its wired properly unless the fan is running. you also may want to go to www.aprilaire.com and get a maintenace kit from their online store. it comes with pad and new hose along with a couple other things.

you need to make sure your humidity level in the house isnt higher then what your humidifier will provide at any givin outdoor temp. this chart is in the owners manual. you cant remove the wires going to the ODS or it will give an error unless you have a resistor to put in its place. Anyway if the humidifier works in test mode according to AA it works so you may have higher humidity than you think, the highest your gonna get is 45% as the temp outside drops it will allow less humidity so it doesnt cause window condinsation (property damage) here is a copy of the chart. the #s on the left are the dial setting

Turn off the water to the humidifier
Disconnect the water line to the inlet water valve (the solenoid), catch any excess water or drips in a small container
Turn the water back on slowly and see if water flows through the open line (the one you just disconnected - catch the water in a small bucket)
If you have water to the valve, it's probably the solenoid valve - you can test this by reconnecting the water line and turning the humidistat all the way up. You should hear a click as the solenoid tries to open. If it clicks and no water comes out it's the valve. If there is no water to the valve, you'll need to detrmine the reason(s). Sometimes the small line tap valves commonly used with humidifiers can plug up or malfunction. If you try to repair or replace the tap valve, make sure the water is turned off.
If no click, it could be the humidistat or there is no power to the unit.
If the humidistat is bad, you won't hear any click and no power will be sent to the solenoid valve. In that case, the humidistat may be defective.
Depending on your comfort level and knowledge, you can try applying power directly to the valve by bypassing the humidistat, but only try this if you are comfortable working with electricity. The voltage should be around 24 volts (in the USA) , which is low, but requires some knowledge.
