Is you computer slow when using software offline? If so, it is either AOL or your internet. Don't judge the speed strictly by going to AOL. Go to Speakeasy Speed Test and test your internet speed. If that shows your internet is running at the speed you are paying for, it si AOL having trouble. You don't say which browser you are using, but most browsers have an option to block pop-ups. Make sure it is on.
Run a virus scan on your PC to see if it is infected. Also defrag your hard drive to speed it up some.

Hey I
face the same problem too! It's really irritating. When it gets real bad,
what I do is just run a
computer check up. That usually does the trick in solving all these
issues. You might want to give it a try too, i believe its free at <a

Hello there.
It sounds like your computer might be infected with something, you should not be getting popups in this day and age :)
I would suggest 2 things, firstly you can avoid most of the problems on the Internet by using a safer web browser, either Firefox or Opera is much safer than using the included browser Internet Explorer6/7.
The second thing would be to run an online virus, trojan, spyware scanner such as housecall . This runs in your web browser and does not conflict with any antivirus installed on the computer, let it scan your computer and when its done it should remove anything found.
Doing this and using another web browser should speed up your computer which in turn should speed up your internet hopefully.
In firefox you can even install a plugin call 'adblock filter updater' which not only blocks adverts but stops them from even loading, this should speed up your connection some.
Try this and let us know.
Hope this helps.
