Looked in the manual and don't see this covered. I emailed Garmin days ago and it didn't respond.

If you are not receiving any
sound on your Nüvi 2xx the first thing to check is that the sound is not muted.
To ensure that your units sound is not muted please perform the following:
If the mute button is not ‘ticked’,
you will need to change the voice to ensure that the preset voice is not
faulty:
If changing the voice is not helping you will need to ensure that you are
running the latest software which can be done by installing a program called
WebUpdater. WebUpdater can be installed via the link below:
http://www8.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=999-99999-27
Once updated please allow the unit to reboot which will ensure the software
successfully installs.
If after following all the above the final steps would be to perform a master
reset:
Note: A master reset will erase all waypoints or favorites and will restore
your unit to the default factory settings.
The device will automatically reset. Please follow the on screen prompts on the
nuvi and when completed place your device in an area with a clear view
of the sky until it acquires satellites.

Sounds like a bad or low battery. Do you have the Garmin
approved charger / car charger?? You may have to send your 265 in for battery
replacement or try this:
There are three ways to charge the internal battery in your automotive GPS
unit.1
1 - Please note
that temperature can play an effect on the charging of a device. If the battery
registers a temperature of 0°C and below or 45°C and above (32°F and 113°F
respectively) then it will not charge. When connected to external power it will
only be operating off of external power.
2 - The Quest® and Quest® 2 will not charge using a
USB cable.
