My cable has stretched and need to know if the plastic parts on this cable have to go onto the new cable?

It depends on the replacement cable. If you see the plastic parts on the new cable, then you don't need to retain them from the old cable. If the new cable does not have the plastic parts, you will have to swap in your old plastic parts onto the new cable.

I hope this helps,
--Robert

SOURCE: My 2 stroke mantis tiller will not prime.no fuel

I had the same problem, get a rebuild kit. It sounds like the diaphram is shot. Also make sure the prime bulb doesn't have any holes or cracks, the engine won't run if it does

SOURCE: what is left to do but change the flywheel?

check what they call air gap between the coil and flywheel .010-.012 gap
also be sure your flywheel is in time.
you will actually have to remove it to do this and check for the sheared key or be sure the key way aligns with the crankshaft keyway on the flywheel

SOURCE: My Mantis Tiller 4cycle engine

I had same issue with my 2 year old 4cycle. Check if the carb is moving full stroke with throttle movement. I had almost no movement at carb at full throttle, found the trigger in throttle handle was cracked and bent rather than pull cable. I called mantis and they promptly sent a new handle bar ***'y with new cable, throttle ***'y Etc and that solved my problem.

BTW: If you cannot wait, I did figure out that if I pushed the carb to open with the throttle trigger fully pulled it would run at high, but when you let go.....LOL

SOURCE: MANTIS WILL NOT IDLE

I had the same problem. I adjusted the throttle stop IN until I got an idle without touching the throttle.

Mantis Tiller. I have just fitted a new carburetor. I pulled the throttle trigger, the tines go round as normal then stop. Repeated this and each time the same. The engine keeps running.

Question edited for clarity, spelling, sentencing, punctuation and written English including your own name :>D

So you start the engine and it runs, the tines turn, and when you apply throttle and apply it to the soil, it stalls? That means the Carburetor needs setting up, or you have a fuel supply problem.

When I Start Mantis Tilleer it starts in gear ( tines are turning)

The Mantis has a speed controlled automatic clutch.

Lower the idle speed by turning the idle screw counter clockwise. The idle screw is attached where the throttle cable meet the carb. The screw has a pointed end that resembles a pencil point.

The engine speed should be adjusted just above stalling.

If the tines turn even when the engine pull rope is pulled, the the clutch is defective and needs repairing.

I also have Mantis tiller for 2 years. From the very beginning I had a problems. I was referred by Mantis to the repair store and was charged $90.00 for oil drainage. The second time I was waiting for handle replacement for ~ 1 month. This tiller can't handle even little jobs and the warranty doesn't worth a dime. Maybe I will be more successful using it in my living room . I have an equipment with Briggs and Stratton engines and I never had a problem.

To me Mantis mean big advertisement and waste of money.

Throttle cable is stretched, will an Echo part repair this problem?

Before you order a new cable, see if you can make an adjustment to deal with the slack. There is usually a way to compensate for gradual stretch of cables. There may be a metal bushing that is tightened onto the cable with a screw - if so, loosen the screw, pull more cable through, then tighten. Or there may be a threaded rod the cable runs through, and you can loosen the nuts on the rod to move it, then retighten.

If not, remove the cable and take it to a yard equipment store so you can compare it directly with a new part. Good luck! Please rate this if you find it helpful, thanks.

I need some help with throttle assembly for Mantis tiller

Here is an opportunity for the Mantis Company to do the right thing. The design flaw with their tiller is the plastic throttle handle. If the tiller is bumped or banged against the deliberately poor designed part and it breaks you are forced to buy the entire poorly designed assembly ($45.00) so they can earn greater revenue. Designing something to fail goes way beyond the design redundancy mode of most companies these days. They are therefore a leader in the mediocrity field. Not the list I would want to shoot for. They should sell just the part that failed due to the poor design. I realize this would cut into their revenue. Don't they think that I will think twice about buying another Mantis product given the stupidity of their design staff? I am glad that the Mantis customer service person took so much enjoyment in the failure of their product and the admitted frequency with which this issue occurs and the problem it has caused their customers. Sounds like poor design is not the only problem Mantis has within their company. My suggestion - Buy a product from a company other than Mantis.
