SOURCE: 1975 75 hp evinrude water in lower unit

You could take off the lower unit and leave the boat home. All they need is the bottom. The propshaft seal can be cut from fishing line. There should be another seal on the shift assembly and a third on the powershaft. Some you could do, but the shop can pressure test before and replace only what you need. Then pressure test after the repair to verify it seals.

SOURCE: How do i change the lower water unit on a 40 hp 2

You mean the water pump? It is fairly easy , You have to drop the lower unit, a long shaft is attached that goes up inside the engine, I haven't done this in a while, I'm trying to remember, I know that the shaft had threads on it, and you had to count the number of turns, to get it to shift right. That was the hard part, change out the impeller, new rubber, new plate, You are all set. If it is the lower unit you want to change out, It is basically the same, but all those parts in there are replaceable. If the bolts are frozen, get some "blaster" on them and let them soak.

SOURCE: need to know how to change lower unit on 1971

put into nuetral, undo the five bolts around lower unit, take off sideplate halfway down leg casing, loosen the two bolts clamping the gear rods together, then lower unit should slide down[if driveshaft isnt stuck in the crankshaft spline].assembly is reverse, but take care putting water tube back into rubber grommet, and tighten gear rod clamp only after making sure that g/box is in nuetral, when gear lever also in nuetral,or matched together

Testimonial: "thank you so much for you help on the johnson 25hp lower unit . without your help we never could have done it. it is put back together and works great!!! keep up the great work. mamawhughes"

Torque setting for the 4 bolts that secure the lower end unit on a 1982 Mercury 25 hp s-stroke outboard

In the Shop manual I could find 25ft/lbs (34Nm).
Grease the threads, OR use curil non-hardening sealant on the threads!

Gear oil change. how much oil

Each gear case has two plugs - an upper, and lower. Take both plugs out and fill from the bottom till lube starts to come out the top plug. Do not fill from the top plug as an air bubble may prevent the case from getting filled completely. Gear lube is usually sold in a squeeze bottle or there's pumps available. If it takes more than one bottle, simply switch bottles, or put your finger over the hole till you get the lower plug back in. In colder climates it's best to change the lube each fall. Inspect the drained lube (old lube) for water. Water will either settle to the bottom and come out first or the lube will have a yellowish color. If there's water present - have the seals checked/replaced before refilling. Sometimes it's simply replacing the seal around the plugs. Do not let water in the lower unit freeze, as it can crack the Aluminum casing. Smaller engines might take a pint, and larger take a quart - but have extra on hand and make sure it comes out the top hole. Also check for drip spots on the floor if stored.

2008 Yahama 90 2 stroke outboard lower unit fluid leak

Ok by fluid I assume it is gear oil leaking yes?
There is every chance there is the smallest seal leak there that may only be present once the gear case gets a little pressure in it, either through use, or through expansion as the leg heats sitting in the sun even. Have you got a new washer installed under this screw to properly seal it? Usually a nylon type washer is best.

Also, how do you know the lower unit is not leaking or have water intrusion? Have you drained the gearbox oil recently? If so what color was the oil, milky looking at oil or good semi-transparent oil color?
