Changing the battery in the remote won't affect the programming, and neither should a dead car battery. I am surprised there is no keyed entry on the driver's door.
You may want to check the built in trio-diode in your alternator. This lets current flow one way when it is ok. When defective, current will flow both ways & this will run your battery down.Take a fluke meter & see if there is excess voltage draining when car is turned off. You can replace the trio-diode or the complete alternator. GOOD LUCK, ROBERT OLIVER
