I have an Epson 7600 that I just purchased on EBay. I tested it when I picked it up and it worked fine. When I try to print from home I get a "Command Error" and all the ink lights flash red.

I did some research and I know this can be caused by the wrong driver. I went to the Epson site and downloaded the Epson Stylus Pro 7600 with Ultra Chrome ink driver for windows Xp 32 bit. The computer that is hooked up to this printer is running Windows XP home edition which is 32 bit so I think I have the correct driver (Epson1216.exe. I'm not 100% sure whether I have the Ultra Chrome ink setup or the Photographic Dye setup and I wee they are different drivers but I can't seem to find any information how to tell which printer you have or if it is the same exact printer that can just use different inks. I have PHOTO BLACK and LIGHT BLACK so I believe that means the printer has UltraChrome inks. Does anyone have any thoughts what the problem could be? FYI I am getting this error just doing the "TEST PAGE button after the driver installs. It seems like this should be the easiest thing to print but perhaps that is flawed logic. Thank you!

Might be an idea to try both drivers and see which is best!

In addition to searching for the Model number of your printer, try adding the P/N (part number) which is usually found on the bottom of the printer. I have found that some models of printers can have different drivers especially when they have been manufactured a couple of years apart. When I searched for your printers driver, I came up with a file very similar to yours except that it was called epson12167.exe. Here is the link to that file. I hope it makes the difference:

Cannot print from command prompt - Epson U220D Windows 7 32-bit New parallel port with driver New centronix to parallel cable Epson driver APD_455dE (I was using Windows 7 64 bit with a...

The Epson works fairly well with XP. It is to be connected to
a parallel port, usually LPT1
using an IEEE certified parallel printer cable. The computer BIOS
setting is best set for standard parallel port, SPP, bi-directional port
or similar. If possible, do not set it to ECP or EPP or ECP & EPP.

The only native driver for the printer is on the Windows CP CD. Install
using the Add Printer wizard.

The Epson LQ-860 drivers, and a few others, can be used. Using these
drivers, you will discover that the printer actually has some resident
fonts (in printer ROM) that are not accessible from the Stylus
driver. However, with this driver, graphics printing quality is
compromised.

Windows 9x drivers _cannot be used_.

Let us know.

Epson Pro 7600 Service required error

Service required mean waste ink counter overflow. You need to reset it. SSC Service utility don't work with this type. The resetter is not for free, it's commercial. Only some distributor have it.

Epson Stylus Pro 7600 - Oversize Printing

Select the proper page size in the page setup dialogue box and again in the various print dialogue box sub menus. Also make sure your printer is selected and you are using the correct drivers.

If all of these things are in place you should get a long list of paper types in the pull down menu when you attempt to print.

Print heads won't come clean

To really clean the epson 7600, alternately print a nozzle check and then run a cleaning. Do this 8 times in a row. If that does not fix the problem, it could be that you need to replace the cleaning assembly. You could also try just cleaning off the wiper blade in the cleaning assembly. You need to remove the left side cover to get at the wiper.
Here is a link for the service manual SP76-9600_service manual.pdf I'm only including this for the instructions on removing the side panel, and for recognition of the wiper blade.
You can do your own cleaning assembly replacement if you have any sort of experience in that sort of thing, But if you don't, I would recommend leaving that to a tech. (But it is pricey.)

Epson Pro 7600 Service required error

You need to be able to clear the counters in the printer that tell the printer to stop working.
In order to do that you must

1. Turn printer off
2. you must hold down the "Paper Source, Paper Feed, Select Feed, Cut/Eject" buttons all at the sime time while you turn the printer back on.
3. From there navigate through the menues to clear the counter that pertains to you or all.
(Error 00000101 is pertains to the print head motor)

Word of warning -
Those counters can be a pain as they cause the printer to stop working however you do need to get your printer serviced by a tech as soon as you can because the error is a warning, reset the counters lets you finsih a job, but if it goes unserviced too long it will actually break down all togther.

So even after you rest the counters you absolutly must get your printer serviced soon.
