Search for a cooling fan for that model in google or ebay. If you can't find one you may be able to buy one of those cooling systems that you set the laptop on to pull all the heat out of it. I did that once to my brothers old laptop and it is still working today.

Overheating When the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermal overload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is the problem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail.
A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are clogged with dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan.
If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make sure the vents are clear and dust free. Use a small brush and can of compressed air to do this.

How to stop over heating laptops or computers.

1. Fix Internal Cooling. The first and most important thing you need to do when your laptop is overheatingis to clean the fan(s) that provide(s) cooling to the CPU and graphics card. Over time, they build up layers of dust and dirt that slow them down and block airflow.
A laptop that severely overheats causes damage to the internal components. Before this happens, the laptop should attempt to shut itself down. ... If you smell smoke, a burning odor, the fans never run or the fan runs all the time, be careful to avoid ruining your laptop.
The most common cause of laptop overheating is a non-working fan. ... Viruses, spyware, adware and other types of malware put a heavy strain on the CPU and other components of your laptop. This causes those components to heat up, often to a point where the fan simply cannot move enough air over them to cool them down.
Determine Whether Your Computer Is Overheating or Just Hot. Laptops get hot. It's what they do. However, if your laptop is shutting down, suffering from the blue screen of *****, or experiencing serious slowdowns, then you have a much bigger problem on your hands.
A laptop that severely overheats causes damage to the internal components. Before this happens, the laptop should attempt to shut itself down. ... If you smell smoke, a burning odor, the fans never run or the fan runs all the time, be careful to avoid ruining your laptop.
Heat is a computer's enemy. Computers are designed with heat dispersion and ventilation in mind so they don't overheat. If too much heat builds up, your computermay become unstable, suddenly shut down, or even suffer component damage.

I am user of a VAIO laptop model VGN-FZ340N which I have received recently. I have noticed high temperature at the left upper side of it near the cooling rack ... The laptop still working but I am...

Excessive heatup beyond usual is alarming and PC shuts down by itself when the processor temperature exceeds the safe temperature limit. There are mainly two reasons for heatup.
Laptop heating issue generally occurs due to fan failure, which may damage the system, if not checked properly. Another most likely cause of overheating is the dust present inside the laptop, which clogs the fan and heatsink.
1. Make sure the fan is running. (if not it needs replacement)
2. In case there is dust inside the laptop,
I suggest that you should get you laptop checked by a professional for servicing (if required). I believe immediate action is required to prevent any damage to your machine and data if the laptop is heating up abnormally.

Hope it Helps! Let me know if i could be of any further assistance.

To Whom This May Concern, I am 99% sure I have a problem with my fan. When my computer is on for extended periods of time or if I have alot of webpages open it starts making this awful noise that almost...

As a solution I suggest that you change the power scheme settings and check the operation. Follow the steps to change the power scheme settings:

1. Click the Start button, and then click Control Panel .

2. In the Control Panel window, under Pick a category , double-click the Performance and Maintenance icon.

3. In the Performance and Maintenance window, under or pick a Control Panel icon , double-click the Power Options icon.

4. In the Power Options Properties window, in the Power schemes box, click the down arrow and then click to select the desired power scheme.

5. Click the OK button.

You may also clean the notebook fan area.

Regularly wipe the exterior of the notebook case with a clean, soft cloth to prevent a build-up of dust that could interfere with air circulation of the cooling system.

Provide adequate air circulation to prevent internal heat buildup.

Leave a space of at least 8 inches behind the back panel of the notebook

I have a sony vaio vgn nr430e laptop the display goes off as soon as the cpu fan starts rotating

That could be a problem with the heatsink/fan assembly on the processor. It sounds like the processor is starting up, getting warm as they do, the fan starts up but does not cool efficiently enough and forces a shut down due to heat.
Clean out the fan assembly and replace the old heatsink compound on the processor heat sink.
Hope that helps.

Vaio computer problem

You could have a faulty fan and/or dust clogging the fan and heat-sink assemble. This is the most likely cause of the laptop shutting down. When the CPU overheats it goes into thermal shutdown and if this problem is not fixed, eventually the CPU will fail.
Check the fan to see it it spins freely and check if the fan works when the laptop is powered up.
If the fan and heat-sink is ok, then to give the laptop addition cooling then purchase a laptop cooling pad and place the laptop in this pad (These pads have cooling fans and helps cool the laptop).

My laptop keeps shutting off even thought it is fully charged and still being powered. I dont noe what is causing it to happen.

its sounds to me if the laptop keeps shutting itself down its because you are having overheat issues you may have a bad fan or heat sink which prevents the laptop from cooling itself if it is new you should take it back if not you may want to have it sent in for repair! hope this helps!

Fan went out. how to repair myself

First you need to find out if you can purchase the fan,

http://www.sparepartswarehouse.com/Sony,Vaio-VGN-FJ-FZ-Series,Laptop,Fans.aspx

Now you need the Vaio VGN-FJ Series Service Manual,

http://tim.id.au/laptops/sony/vgn-fj.pdf

(PDF file download. Advise letting it download all the way, before looking through it)

Now post back if you need me to guide you. Looking at the procedures you need to follow can be daunting, if you've never done this before.
