You must be using a "turbin" which is different and better than a compressor however a turbin runs all the time and air must escape from it unlike a compressor with an airtank the shuts off after the desired pressure is reached it shuts it self off then turns back on with tank pressure drops below what you have set it at- a turbin reaches the pressure you set the regulater at and maintains it constantly NEVER STOP THE AIR FROM PASSING THRU IT in fact a lot of times i do this to remove any dust i may have missed so evrything is working like it should on yr sprayrig..

How do you take this hvlp gun apart for proper cleaning of the spray gun?

I've found over the years the least amount of times you can tear a spray gun completely apart the better. Usually a real good 'flushing' with lacquer thinner will suffice. I will take the air cap off and let it soak in thinner to dislodge any build up but other than that, I simply run thinner thru till it runs clear out the tip.

I also 'back flush' which involves having thinner in the cup and the air supply hose attached. the air pressure should be adjusted quite a bit lower than what you use for spraying paint.

Then you place a clean shop towel or rag over the air cap of the gun and pull the trigger. This forces air back into the paint cup 'back flushing' the gun. Then take the rag away from the cap and pull the trigger again to run thinner thru the gun the normal way.

IF you still want to tear the gun apart for cleaning you can hopefully get some idea with this video link;

Air bubbling up in cup when air trigger is pulled this is a gravity fed hvlp spray gun

it means the air holes in the nozzle are blocked the air couldn't get out in the front so instead it went back to the cup makes it bubble

Gravity feed gun has bubbles in the cup

I was in desperate need of getting on with lacquering a guitar and it seemed everywhere I looked on the net just gave actual spray pattern issues.
There was a small article that suggested tightening the nozzle up. I had only finger-tightened it.
Problem now solved!!!

IS GTi W GRAVITY SPRAY GUN A HVLP GUN?

It depends on the air cap\tip you are shooting with. For instance the 110 air cap is a standard compliant style. Were as the 105 and 115 are a HVLP style.

Iwata w400 air leak behind trigger problem

Have you traced the exact spot of the leak?
I will assume you have not. the reason it's important is because if there is a crack in the o-ring seat there is nothing you can do. So trace the leak. Try a small amount of auto air conditioner leak detector or something similar even ink from an ink pen will work. Place it in the air inlet, hook up your air line and trigger your gun for a 10 to 15 seconds. disassemble your trigger and see if you can locate the offending spot. Though this method has worked for me in the past, it's not something I would normally recommend. However the gun you have is to expensive to just write off.
The alternative is to contact Iwata and seek help.
Good luck.
