The hose from the bar chain oil tank on my McCulloch EM 14 ES to the oiler has deteriorated. Can I get a new hose or do I have to replace the entire oil tank assembly

I found that my McCulloch EM 14 ES chain saw was leaking bar chain oil under the body. When I took it apart, I found that the short hose from the oil tank to the oiler had deteriorated. Can that short section of hose be replaced and how do I replace it, or do I have to replace the entire tank assembly?

SOURCE: Can't get the chain oiler to work. Using standard bar oil.

You can always put some penentrating oil in the saw oil tube by the bar, spray it in with the plastic straw attatched. Sometimes this will clean things out. As far as the tube being un attatched,,,, taking case apart is usually the remedy - kinda takes a while... :) Hope this helps you, Rick.

SOURCE: McCulloch 14" chain saw Model CS 38 EM It quit

Most often there is a dust-oil clog in the bottom of the bar slot which closes an oil passage between the bar slot and the hole drilled half way through the side of the bar. This provides a passage between the thin shim plate with the two bar bolt holes beside the bar and through to the oil tank or pump output. You can remove the bar and chain and punch out the blockage in the bar with a paper clip if the chain is removed. Make sure the wire can be pushed from the bar slot right through the side hole in the bar. A gravity feed chainsaw should leak right out into the slot of the shim plate, a button pumper should squirt out there with the bar removed. With a button pumper you may have a tiny check valve in the line or the push button to take apart, replace the spring or unstick the ball inside the check valve. This is why they went to the gravity feed oil system which just leaks in there and gets picked up by the bottom of the links as the chain races past the passage between the bar side hole and the chain slot.

Testimonial: "I checked as you suggested and I removed the pump from the crank shaft and the plastic gear is stripped. Now I can not find a pump. Thanks Jim"

Mcculloch 1435 14''- The bar is not getting any oil with the tank full

Operator’s Manual

IPL – all oiler components are illustrated here:
http://weborder.husqvarna.com/order_static/doc/MIPL/MIPL2003/MIPL2003_VP0302015.pdf
Oil System Plugged.
  1. Remove the clutch cover, bar, and chain, clean the bar groove, any holes and passages on the rear of the bar (both sides, consider rotating the bar), if equipped with a sprocket nose ensure it rotates easily at least one complete revolution. Clean the saw oiler hole and channel. Insert a blunted, hooked piece of wire through the oil filler hole and pull the hose in the oil tank out. Pay attention to the screen or filter on the free end (clean or replace, difficult to determine serviceability).
CAUTION: I am not familiar with what hazards may present on an electric saw with the bar and chain removed.
  1. Start the saw and see if it oils when revved up. If yes reassemble your saw. If no, continue with 2.
  2. Work your way through the linkage cleaning and replacing any defective parts as you go. Carefully check the hoses for cracks especially at bends and connections. If equipped with an oil pump it is usually behind the clutch (clutch is a left handed thread). Please make extensive notes & some digital pictures will help during reassembly.
If it does not oil on completion of 2 it is most item 44, try to determine what drives it. Listen or gently touch it to verify operation. Please see the IPL to aid in oiler component identification.

You can reply below if I can be of further assistance, I hope you find this helpful.

If it does not oil on completion of 1 on a McCulloch it is most often a plugged or disconnected hose.

There are in excess of 230 different McCulloch chainsaws. Oilers are often specific to one model. Please reply below with the model and serial number of yours so I can provide a more complete answer and an IPL. HTH

Mcculloch eager ****** no oil going to chain

The oiler pumps on Macs are the usual suspect, try this:
Oil System Plugged.
  1. Remove the clutch cover, bar, and chain, clean the bar groove, any holes and passages on the rear of the bar (both sides, consider rotating the bar) Clean the saw oiler hole and channel. Start the saw and see if it oils when revved up. If yes reassemble your saw. If no, continue with 2.

Build an IPL number like this:
McCulloch Manual
Illustrated Parts Lists: (IPLs) are fairly simple, on the underside of McCulloch saws is a black and yellow tag; the upper number (“Power Mac 320” 600021H) is the model, below it a serial number (11-18555). These 2 numbers are combined to create an IPL number (“Power Mac 320” IPL number = 11-600021H). The IPL number can be used to find the correct IPL for every McCulloch parts supplier I have found. If the parts supplier only list part numbers the proper IPL is the source for the part number.

If you can not find parts please repost with the IPL number and I will share my secret Mac parts source.

Mcculloch em300s electric chain saw stopped oiling the chain. I noticed the oil had all flowed out in storage shed and when I refilled it and used it I noticed the chain and bar were dry.

This is a little complicated so I’m going in small steps.
http://www.m-and-d.com/parts.html
Click “Illustrated Parts Diagrams ON LINE”
Click “Click Here for Parts Lookup”
Changes to “Select OEM” Window reads “Briggs & Stratton ▼” Click the arrow and select “McCulloch Power”
Click “Electric Chain Saws” The model number of your saw is probably on a tag affixed to the bottom. The tag also displays the serial number.
If it is a 300S the hyphen is the bar length.
I looked at the 300S-16 (same oiler parts as -14)
  1. Remove the clutch cover, bar, and chain, clean the bar groove, any holes and passages on the rear of the bar (both sides, consider rotating the bar) Clean the saw’s oiler hole and channel. Start the saw and see if it oils when revved up. If yes reassemble your saw. If no, continue with 2.
  2. Item 15 has a filter on the bottom check it first, insert a blunted, hooked piece of wire through the oil filler hole and pull the hose in the oil tank out (clean or replace, difficult to determine serviceability). If good I’d look closely at item 17. I can’t get enough detail from the IPL but that is the logical culprit.
Oil systems on all Mac Electrics appear pretty basic. Good Luck

The bar oiler is not working. when it sits for about a week it will drain all the bar oil. The last time I used the saw the first tank of gas it oiled good after that it will not oil the bar. I removed the...

Is this a new saw? If yes please contact Husqvarna about a warranty (2 years) repair. I think you already performed part 1 below.

I've 7 chainsaws. 6 of them oil my bench if I forget to drain the oil tank.

You don't give us a model number not all saws have oiler adjustments. An IPL of your saw with oiler detail can be found here:
HusqvarnaUSA.com
http://www.husqvarna.com/us/homeowner/support/download-manuals/
Enter the 3 digit model number (no XPs, Es, just the numbers)
Serial number decode – for use with IPL
06 1500198
06 = year produced – 2006 (single digit before 2000)
15 = week produced - March
00198 = 198th unit Husky produced that week

Oiler does not work on Mac 3200 chain saw

I cannot find any 3200 series IPLs. Individual models can be found here:

If this is a Chinese Mac (MTD) they are very difficult to work on. Most saw shops will not repair one. GL
Oil System Plugged.
Remove the clutch cover, bar and chain. Clean the oiler hole and channel. Start the saw and see if it oils when revved up. If yes reassemble your saw.
If no a blunted, hooked piece of wire can be used to pull the hose in the oil tank out. I recommend the filter be replaced. McCulloch Mac 120 oiler

I think the problem is the funny rubber-hose-connection of the oil tank to the oil pump. It looks quite flimsy to me... But if you want I can have a look how this screw is adjusted...Bye, also tom
