Please switch hdmi ports and check for the picture again. You can also do a power cycle (restart) on your tv by unplugging it for 1 minute and putting the plug back in.

If these techniques do not work, please double check that your brightness is not 0 in your display settings.

If all else fails, you can attempt a factory reset.

Unplug the JVC from the power outlet for 10 seconds. Plug the JVC TV back into the power outlet. Hold down both the "Menu" and "Volume Down (-)" buttons for another 10 seconds. Just before releasing these buttons, press and hold the "Power" button.

try unplugging the unit. Press and hold power button for 10-20 sec's then try again

You could try a reset of the TV.
1. Unplug the JVC from the power outlet for 10 seconds.
2. Plug the JVC TV back into the power outlet.
3. Hold down both the "Menu" and "Volume Down (-)" buttons for another 10 seconds.
4. Just before releasing these buttons, press and hold the "Power" button.

Usually it is the power board. Try finding a replacement power board it should fix the problem.

I fixed my 55" Samsung with the exact same symptom.

Have you tried un plugging the TV for 10 minutes and seeing if that clears the lock up? This is a software issue I'm sure.

There is a way to reset television. I have a jvc 42inch that was just going to main logo screen and not beyond it. If i remember correctly you unplug the tv hold power button for 5 sec on tv then let go plug in and start. If that dont work unplug and then plug and hold power button on tv for 5 sec. It is 1 of those combinations. My tv worked after that. I googled my problem and a website listed that some tvs need to be reset.
