Brown rice needs more water than white rice. Using 2 cups of brown rice in a rice cooker, fill with water to the 3 cup mark.

Yes - I think it's a great way to cut down on the time needed for cooking. I particularly love using my pressure cooker for beans which I soak over night and then they only take 20 minutes in the pressure cooker. It's also great for rices like brown rice that take 40 minutes when boiling - it cuts the cooking time by half.

Add a little more water to brown rice than you would white. Rice cookers do not make a very good job of cooking brown rice and it often sticks to the base. Better to use only white rice in cookers

You have to soak and left the brown rice for 10 to 15 minutes in the water before you cook them or adjust the water level a bit higher!

Usually you want to put one dose of rice for 2 1/2 dose of rice. Brown or whole grain rice will need a little more water and will need to cook for a little more time. Hope that helps!

Sounds like it's working perfectly for an Asian family. :-) Our rice cooker is a different design (made for Americans) and we can reduce the stickiness by adding more water than called for and rinsing the rice before cooking. Good luck!
