SOURCE: "Card-cover open" error message

It's when putting the card in.. typically you put it in and it clicks (so to speak).. if you delay removing your finger-push, it does something to the card and makes a Disconnect, although in looking at it, it looks just fine.. and the cover closes... A lot of people are reporting 'door open' errors. The micro-switch in the door housing is quite sensitive and pressure shifts from your hand on the door can cause it to trigger as if the door were opened. some get progressively worse. One fix is to add a little bit of length to the plastic that contacts the switch, either a layer of tape or a drop of epoxy, etc. This may help (or may not if the switch itself is flaky). Another fix discussed bypassing the switch altogether, obviously not for the faint of heart (or cameras in warrantee).

SOURCE: Olympus Stylus 770SW error message

After only 15 days mine did the same thing. I called the dealer Olympus and they gave me a RAN number and told me where to send it. I got a call about a week later. They said because the camera had moisture inside I was not coverd. The best they would do is mail me a rebate card for 25 dollars off my next purchase. I was like WTF. The woman said sorry but that was all they could do. When I asked to speak to manager she hung up.

SOURCE: My screen keep showing the Card Cover Open Error even though the cover is closed

The card door sensor is either damaged, failing or gone completely. You can take camera apart, (7 screws I think) take the back off. Sensor is at the back of camera near the battery door. If sensor is missing, you will see 2 spots on the electronics board where it was connected. Carefully melt solder so that those two points are connected. If sensor is still in place it's probably damaged. Carefully remove sensor using small snips or something like that, with out damaging anything around sensor. Then solder 2 points together. Good Luck

It's a lost cause. The A540 works with SD cards. While SDHC cards will fit into the slot, they are electronically incompatible and will not work in devices not designed for them. You need to stay with SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

I just got my Panasonic HDC-SD80 in the post. I am charging it but tried to turn it on just for a quick look. The camera turned on and I could scroll through the menus on the touch screen and stuff but...

sometimes this happens if there is a fault with the memory card. switch the camera off, take the battery and memory card out, leave it for 2 mins, put the battery in (DO NOT PUT THE MEMORY CARD BACK IN) wait for the message on screen saying no memory card detected. switch off camera, put memory card in, switch on the camera, this normally cures the blank lcd screen issue

My Brother MFC-8680dn keeps giving me a "Print Unable 72" error message. Any ideas how to fix?

According to Brother Solution Center:

The machine may not work properly because of the condensation inside of the machine caused by a temperature differential between the inside and the outside of the machine.
To clear the error message please follow the steps below:
  1. Keep the machine's power on and open the front cover.

  2. Leave the front cover open for 30 minutes.

  3. Close the front cover.

  4. Turn off the machine's power switch and turn it on again.
