If you see error code F21 on your Whirlpool washing machine, this refers to a water drain problem. The washer won't be able to finish the cycle and your laundry will be wet. This error code means draining is taking too long, and something is wrong with the water pumping.
if the drain pump or drain motor is weak this
is will cause and long time draining or totally not running the drain pump or
drain motor and its cause of totally stop the cycle of washing machine in rinse
time or spin time, because all fully automatic washing machine, after washing
cycle the drain pump or drain motor must be on, to remove water before start
the next cycle. rinse or spin cycle. need to replace the part but dont try it if you dont have idea how to do. call the technician for your safety and not to waste money.
F21 means to a long drain. Basically means that water is not pumping out quick enough. If all the drain lines have been checked for blockages and restrictions the manufacturer recommends the pump is replaced. Some times the impeller can become damaged or the motor which can cause the pump to work slower then it should causing this error code. If you took off the hose from the tub to the pump and found nothing then I doubt there is a blockage in the drum (it would have moved into the drain filter).
Sd or 5d error SUDS LOCK (OVERDOSE OF DETERGENT DETECTED DURING THE WASH CYCLE) If suds are detected continuously by the pressure switch during the drain or spin phases, the washer will fill 4 liters of water and during 5 minutes the unit will rest without tumbling, the water will be drained and it will try to spin or drain again.
If too much detergent was used: - Run the unit through a RINSE/SPIN cycle. - Run a NORMAL cycle without adding any detergent.
This should clear the unit of the excess detergent. 1. Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked. 2. Unplug washer or disconnect power. 3. Check wire harness connections to the drain pump, pressure switch, and Central Control Unit (CCU). 4. Check/clean drain pump filter of foreign objects. 5. Plug in washer or reconnect power. 6. Check drain pump. 7. Check the pressure switch. 8. Verify CCU operation by running a Diagnostic Test or any cycle.
the F21 code is a ' drain issue ' --- if you remove the bottom panel from the machine you will see the water pump right there,, just in front of the pump you will see a clean out area,, unscrew counter clockwise and remove the catch screen,,, it most likely has a few things in it ,, clean out - re-install and start the cycle. and the F21 code should be gone AND washer is back up and running.
The SUD message relates to overdose of detergent detected during the Wash Cycle. This may signify a bad pump, an extra heavy load, excessive detergent or excessive suds. If
too much detergent was used, run the washer through a Rinse/Spin cycle,
then a Normal cycle, without adding any detergent. This should clear
the unit of the excess detergent. Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked. this seems to be the reason as to why your unit is not fixed even after trying to solve F21......
F28 is a communication error which usually means there is a connection
that has come loose. Removing the top and unpplugging and replugging
the connectors in will fix 75% of these codes. If the bottom toe panel
is not on it will also give you an F28. Good luck
This means the water is not draining out like it should.
I solved this problem initially on my washer (my drain
pipe was clogged), but now (about 4 months later), I
have a flashing F21 and 5d, because of a clog some-
where. I can drain and rinse (after this cycle, the door
will unlock), and the tub spins, but I can't complete a
cycle. Lots of debris has come out with rinse water,
but I still seem to have a clog somewhere. I can
complete a wash load by manually switching the
settings.
I HAVE A KENMORE ELITE WASHER AND IT STOPS IN THEN MIDDLE OF THE CYCLE AND DOESN'T RISNSE. THE DISPLAYS SHOWS F21. CAN YOU LET ME KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS?
