the beeps are post during
post the very first work is done by the ram all the memory in the ram is first
transferred to the hard disk and remains active until turned off. make sure that your RAM is
securely seated, click start control panel
administrive tools computer management device manager scroll down universal
serial bus controllers you should see a yellow question mark? right click to reinstall
drivers when you plugged the
external disk drive you got that windows could recognize the USB device change
the cable just replace the cable of the hard disk everything should work fine
again, sometimes the wires inside the cable will be damaged due to bending or
stretching or placing heavy equipment upon the cable, check the USB leads that
attach to the motherboard usually red-white-green-black make sure they are
securely seated and have no dust build up on them dust will cause static and a
lot of unforeseen problems hope this helps
the beeping sound is the post system searching for your hard drive and other connected devices try replacing all the leads that attach to your hard drive good luck
if it sounds like a wooden mallet hitting a cast iron skillet, a support spring inside the compressor has broken. if you can live with the noise and it still works, then fine, if not the compressor would need to be replaced...
I've had the Dell 1720dn at my desk for years. Worked flawlessly. Moved it to a different workstation and it began beeping immediately while printing. Another site said to plug it directly into the wall, instead of a battery backup. I unplugged it from the battery backup outlet, and plugged into a surge protector only outlet on the same battery backup unit.... NO MORE BEEPING. Hope this helps someone else.
