How to open up the Salter 3007 Aquatronic Digital Scale: 1. Look for a hole (covered by a label) on the bottom of the device, not
far from the L-R centre line, and about 1-3/4" from the front. Peel
back the label and use a small cross-head screwdriver to loosen the
screw that can be seen though the hole (needs about one turn, no need to
remove it). Place the scale upright, and rotate the weighing pad
slightly in a clockwise direction. This will disengage the tabs on the
plastic pad which hold it to a metal base, so that it can be lifted off.
2. Remove the six screws recessed around the bottom of the scale.
3. Place the scale upright and gently "snap" apart the top and bottom
shells (catches molded into the left and right ends). Be *** VERY
CAREFUL *** when doing this as the display is held in place on a plastic
bridge by the upper shell. When this is removed the display is loose
except for a flexible plastic printed connector strip (which links it to
the circuit board). It is *** all too easy for this strip to break away
at one end or the other ***.
I had the same problem with my Salter 987 scale. Pull the battery out for about 10 seconds and put it back in. Then push the scale once so it turns on. After the blinking stops, push it once more. The scale will now zero itself. After the scale has zero'd itself it may turn off after a brief moment. It's now ready to use normally.
If you're standing on the scale when it's trying to calibrate to zero, it will assume your weight is zero. Don't stand on the scale after replacing the battery untill you first complete the steps listed above.
