Pictures Are All Black

My problem is that all my pictures are all black and can't see anything at all through the screen. It takes pictures all right but they just show up as all black. The power comes on and lens opens as usual, everything else works fine.

I have the exact same problem....exactly. Except my camera is a Canon Powershot A300.

SOURCE: Review windows is black, pictures are black

A stuck shutter is a common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open).

To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see the following for further info and a simple fix that may help:

Sounds like the screen needs to be repaired. If you take phone and push down volume and then plug into USB cable that is connected to computer. Do you see anything?

What's your problem? Nikon Coolpix S220 - My screen is black and takes black pictures. I can still look at old pictures that are saved to the device and see how much battery power etc, but it will

i can recommend read very well you owner manual specially the troubleshooting section. The images in the LCD monitor will darken in strong sunlight or bright light. This is a normall occurrence the devices containing CCDS, and doesnot contitute a malfunctions.
If you are using too much the flash+zoom, the batteries quicly will drain. maintian another set of batteries for replace, or better buy recharges batteries.
God bless you

Cannon Powershot A-620 black screen can't review

Did you accidentally press the DISP or DISPLAY button on the back of your camera? This manually turns the screen on and off to save batteries. You would then use the optical viewfinder to take pictures. To turn the screen back on, just press this button one more time.

Black screen, black pictures

Set to auto shooting mode, take pictures, if still get black pictures, you need to repalce the lens unit. CCD or shutter defected.

My pictures are black i cant see anything when i try to take a picture

Your pictures will usually come out black if you're taking those against the light. Check the lighting or your flash (esp. when it's dark - flash is needed). You should know if your camera is for indoor or outdoor use.

CCD malfunction, common with Sony manufactured CCD chips. You are in luck, its a free repair regardless of warranty date.

Nixon coolpix L11

if the resulting images are the same, you have damaged the camera settings/controllers. see how they look on your computer.
if only the display on the camera is damaged, you should consider asking for a flat rate repair. most makers offer a price for major and minor repairs, and never charge beyond that.
good luck
