Try to put person on speaker phone. If you can hear then your receiver is defective and if you can't hear then, follow instructions here.

Are you using a bluetooth connection?

Maybe try re-positioning the microphone

When im no the phone i can barely hear the other person. Unless im on speaker phone then i can hear fine
maybe by mistake you reduce the volume on the iphone.

try the following during a call press on the right control up volume to see if that improve your sound.

if that doesn't work you should go to an apple store or your cell provider.

First of all,

1. Check on the side volume buttons if the volume is to the maximum
2. Try making calls to some other person
3. If the above solutions don't work for you. Restore the iPhone
