Can the plastic cover over controls be removed ours has a bubble in it?

Is the plastic film a protective cover used during manufacture and shipment? This unit should be covered under warranty. Call service number in papers that came with unit.

If you mean the 4 silver buttons on the lower right of the unit controlling the lite and fan, then see the instructions below...However, if you mean the control panel buttons in the door surrounding the clock display, then you and I are in the same boat. But I digress...

0. UNPLUG THE UNIT
1. Remove the grill atop the unit, 2 phillips screws. Gently slide the grill to the left to unhook it from the unit. This reveals the screw holding the right side cover.
2. Remove the screw holding the cover in place; you can now pull it away from the unit. You must disconnect the wires/plugs from the back. Take a photo for reference. One plug will remain: this belongs to the buttons in question.
3. Set it on a soft cloth to prevent scratching. Remove the screws holding the circuit board in place and the remaining plug; remove the board, then remove the metal tray/box underneath the board.
4. The PCB with the buttons is now visible. There are tabs holding it in place; gently pry them off and the board, a thin plastic shield and the buttons should come free.

Now you can clean/replace the buttons and/or the membrane buttons. Reassemble in reverse.

Cleaning tip: Scrubbing bubbles works great for cleaning icky kitchen grease, although it can leave a film (but it gets the grease!). Follow up with windex (but use a windex-dampened paper towel on plastic to prevent scratching)

If yours is not set to be off via the control panel, and it won't rotate or it sounds like it's grinding, etc., you may have a bad motor or plastic coupler.

To replace either, you need to unplug power, then remove the bottom cover of the oven. In some brands, you have to cut the motor cover off with snips, then use a screw when reassembling it.

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

Be sure the oven is unplugged.

There are two Phillips head screws on the very top of the outside of the cabinet above the vent.

When they're removed the vent grille just snaps out.

What usually breaks is the door open lever.

On a counter top model, the outer cover will need to be removed to diagnose and repair this. On an over-the-range model, only the control panel needs to be
removed.

Please unplug the oven first.

Once it is apart, you'll be able to see how the door open button would press against the door open lever, which would then lift up against the door latch heads (hook-like projections on the door) and the door should open.

It would help for me to know your model number, but I'll tell you what I know generally.

Often the metal cover is held in place on the plastic control panel frame by several bent metal tabs which are visible from the rear side of the plastic frame.

You may have to remove your circuit board from the frame to see them and bend them straight so the metal cover can be removed.

The drawing below should clarify this.

If a plastic scrubber won't clean it, then when it's dry, you may be able to place duct tape or packing tape over it, press and rub it firmly, and remove the tape. It may remove much of the debris.

A can of compressed air (in the computer section of Wal-Mart, for example) may blast out the bits.

If it resists all efforts, it may be necessary to take to the outer cover off, peel off the plastic light cover sheet, do the cleaning, then install a new light cover sheet.

There is a fine metal mesh / screen inside the door assembly.

If any of the holes in that screen are damaged or enlarged, then leakage is possible.

If the bubbling / deformity in the door keeps it from shutting fully and flatly, then leakage is possible.

If the bubbling / deformity in the door allows moisture to collect on or near the screen, it may lead to rust, which can damage the screen and lead to leakage.

Normally on over the range models, you would unplug the oven from the wall, remove the 2 or 3 screws holding the top grille in place, remove the screw at the top of the control panel frame, then CAREFULLY lift up and out to remove it.
If it is a counter top model, you need to remove the outer cover before remoing the control panel frame.
