Jan 12, 2013 - I need help with my Sony TV. The red flashing light keeps going on and off. ITs on standby. can someone guide me as to how to fix the problem. ... B+ over current protection (OCP), unit goes to the standby mode then displays the 2 blink fault. Could be a short in the power supply of any of the circuits.

I have an older 52" sony tv. It wont show a picture & now it makes a popping noise. I also smell smoke? Do you think its repairable?

Type in Sony Blinking Codes.This will tell you what they mean.

the only way is by bringing to a tech.i think there is no need fro self-fixing with problems like this.try tapping the tv several times then turn it on.

Sony TV;s will give a service code, count the blinks, eg; 2-6, light will blink X amount of times, hesitate & blink again so many times. Count and report back but, I would recomend to unplug the TV's power cord, to reset the TV's system. Unplug for at least 3 minutes. I hope this was helpful.

sound like problem with regulated parts block.....and can more helpfull if you count the blinking of the LED....sony have selft diagnostic at the LED Blinking.....

I get 5 blinking red lights for about a minute or so before it powers back down. The Sony TV has a specific light that i presume is supposed to light up when the bulb is out. I'm unsure if this is what it is.
no picture, no sound. tries to boot with green light blinking a few times. then goes to red blinking light, six in all, then waits a few moments, then another 6 blinking red light.
Bulb was already replaced several months ago but we do have the TV on for long periods of time.
