How do I set up a PS2 on an Insignia NS-40D510NA15 flat screen tv?

I'm not much of a tech wiz so it would help if the explanation was 'dumbed' down a bit. The only thing I've tried is plugging in the red, white, and yellow cables. The playstation is a few years old and the Insignia is only a few months old.

Well first of all I would make sure that the TV is set on Channel 3 and also have it set to Audio audiovisual. Check your connection cords for your PS2 to make sure there's no shortage in it from the split ends all the way to the end that plugs into your PlayStation check to make sure there's not a shortage in The Wire. Also try channel 4 if 3 doesn't work out. Hopefully that will work.

That seems like all you should have to do. Are you selecting the correct Input Source on your TV???

SOURCE: ps2 hookup to lcd tv

I suggest you buy the commponent cable (gold plated) itz better or should i say superior than the AV cable ,you will get the better color ,picture etc.And dont forget to hold "TRIANGLE" & "X" button while the game iz booting (thiz to know if the game support progessive scan or not)..not all PS2 game support progressive scan ,so you may find a few problem like the pixel not smooth ,i guess maybe this PS2 weakness when you play it with LCD .

SOURCE: black and white screen

You may need NTSC-PAL/PAL-NTSC converter. This may solve your problem.

SOURCE: PS3 No signal to the TV

To solve this, when the ps3 is in standby (solid red light), just hold the power button. It should beep on, then beep again in about 5 seconds. This will automatically search for the optimal audio video output. if if beeps on then turns off, just try again, it takes 1 or 2 tries sometimes. the reason this is happening is because your ps3 is set to one AV output, ex. composite(red yellow white), HDMI, and then you changed the cable to a different one. another way to fix it is plug both cables, HDMI and composite, into the tv and ps3, then go to settings and change the output to the desired one.

That's the Mother Board problem, you should take it to the Sony for servicing or qualified personnel.

How can I get a manual for NS-40D510NA15

Insignia has the manuals for most of their products on the product page. Click on the Support/Downloads tab. For the NS-40D510NA15, see http://www.insigniaproducts.com/products/televisions/NS-40D510NA15.html . The direct link to the User's Guide (as a PDF) is http://www.insigniaproducts.com/cms/documents/manuals/NS-40D510NA15_14-1088_WEB_V3_ENG_Final_lr.pdf . There is additional documentation available and there is an HTML version of the user's guide as well.

I hope this helps.

On the Insignia TV remote, how do I get back to being able to choose channels with Direct TV remote?

Set-up (Programming) procedure is too much to type in here, and is not practical and it will differ brand-to-brand remote controls. If you wish to get more; check the sites linked here. It has set-up code list & set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. One among it has general set-up codes to check with TVs and other devices are given, in the order of the 'device's brand name list' in alphabetical order. Pull up older posts. Search the sites by type in the brand name to your device in its search box at the top right part of the display window. It will help you to find the document easily.
http://remotesearch.blogspot.com/
http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
http://electrohelponline.blogspot.com/
Search the site by type in the brand name of your device, in the "Search box at the top right of the Home page display" to see the set-up codes to your device, with different brand remote controls.
Programming Notes
• If your device does not respond to the remote after trying all codes listed or your brand is not listed in the code list, use the Auto Code
Search method to program your remote.
• Sometimes the first code that "works" with your device may operate only a few functions of your device. There may be another code in the code list that performs more functions. Try other codes from the code list for more functionality.

Led power light comes on but screen will not come on.

"Blinks a few times" implies the TV is flashing a fault code at you. If you can find a service manual for your model, count the number of blinks and look it up in the diagnostics section.

However, the most likely problem is a burned-out electrolytic capacitor in the power supply. These are usually easy to identify visually; the top of the can-shaped capacitor should be flat, but may be bulged out and may have brown or black material leaking from the vent scores. The photo below shows a bad capacitor to the right of a good one; both have black plastic sleeves.

If this is the case, replacement capacitors are relatively cheap. However, you should look for the following criteria in choosing a new part:
>Capacitance (uF): same as the original, or 10% higher if the original value is not available
>Voltage: same or higher
>Temperature: Maximum temperature should be same or higher
>Physical size: should fit in the space occupied by the original; if buying a taller unit, make sure it will fit when the back cover is reinstalled, and make sure the capacitor will not touch heat generating parts such as heat sinks, resistors or large transistors.
>Ripple current: get the highest available without compromising too much on endurance. Ripple current may be specified in mA or A; 1 A = 1000 mA. Sometimes you can get a better rating by going to a higher voltage part, but physical size may be a limitation.
>Endurance: Try to get 8000 hours or better.

I usually use Panasonic FR1 series capacitors, although United Chemi-Con EKZN capacitors are also worth a look. 25351068-tkog3zu3xmxabptjkcidpctj-1-0.jpeg

I own an Insignia flat screen tv, NS-LCD27, & I was given the Insignia converter box, NS-DXA1; how do I program tv remote for the box? Thanks, frances b.

The digital to analog converters did not exist when the TV was built and the remote programmed. Thus you will have more luck programming the converter box's remote to control the TV. (At least with my converter box, the included remote could only turn on and off the TV. It would only change channels on the converter.)

Most universal remotes only have codes for devices released 6 months or more before the TV was programmed. So a new universal remote will probably control both the TV and the converter box. (Program the converter box using a code for LG or Zenith set top boxes if Insignia isn't listed. LG makes Insignia video products for Best Buy.) The remotes that are programmable by a USB connection to a computer are the fastest to set up.

A replacement remote for your TV is available here: http://www.mcmelectronics.com/partfinder.aspx?brand=&mdl=NS-LCD27&mode=part . An exact replacement remote for the converter box can be purchased at: http://www.remotes.com/remotes/servlet/rs?a=gmi&uuid=13055197980390&smodel=NSDXA1&brand_pn=INSIGNIA_NSDXA1 . The manual for the converter box (as a PDF) is here: http://cbsdallas.files.wordpress.com/2011/01/insignia-ns-dxa1-manual.pdf .

I hope this helps.
