Hey friend, thank you for your inquiry!
I see that you would like to adjust the chime on your Frigidaire washer. I researched the model number you provided, FFW5000QW but was unable to locate any information on it. Could you verify the model number for me please? You can locate your serial tag (which lists your model number) on the door frame of your washer with that information I can double-check to verify if the chime can be adjusted. -Matt

SOURCE: Water level

Your water level is adjusted automatically by the machine, you dont have any control over this. What yu need to see is to keep your wall faucet fully open before the wash, also check whether the pressure is good. It is normal that you see a low level thru your glass in machine............

SOURCE: Not enough water

It only causes an increase in my triple AAA rating......

A for annoyed

If your clothes are not propertly washed it leads to skin manifestations. example neck face and head issues due to pillow cases that are not really clean. I have had it....................this is cleaning them daily. I think I am going to go find a wash board and wash my pillow cases by hand nothing like going back in time. Less water 2 hour cycles are they serious how is this saving money. I have to wash thing twice because they don't come clean. Yes I have used all the appropriate settings and detergents. I am going to have my husband go buy me a hose adapter and hook it to my bathroom sink and bypass this stupidity. I bet I good run the quick cycle and get things clean if I only had enough water.................

SOURCE: Washer (Amana NAV 5800) vibrates

We purchased an Amana NAV5800AWW top-loading washing Machine which ran fine for about 19 months, then it began to vibrate violently when it went into a high-speed spin. I went thru the "leveling" procedure, although it didn't need it; and when that didn't help called the appliance repair man.

The repair man tightened screws, checked that my floors were solid, and then checked the tub itself. He found that the inner (stainless steel) tub was loose, and upon closer inspection found that the stainless steel tub was severely "cracked" around around each of it's 4 mounting bolts. This was allowing the tub to move around, thereby creating an out-of-balance condition.

He indicated that the "fix" would be to replace the tub, which was still under warranty; but I would have to pay the labor for installation ($90 + tax). He suggested I might call customer service and see if they would pay the labor.

I called Whirlpool's customer service dept (Whirlpool bought out what used to be Amana). I spoke to the customer service agent and after explaining the problem suggested that since the problem was clearly either a manufacturing defect or an engineering design flaw, that the customer shouldn't have to pay anything. He (although courteous) said that the warrantly clearly stated that only the part (and not the labor) was covered, and that Whirlpool would not pay for the labor charges.

That's when I pointed out that it didn't project a very good image of a company (Whirlpool) when it would not bear the cost of fixing a problem clearly not of the customer's making. Moreover, I assured him that I would never purchase a Whirlpool product again; and that I would make certain that my experience found it's way onto the internet.

Testimonial: "thanks guru! I went to the seervicematters.com web site and found a tech manual for my machine. I believe it could be the flow meter that does not allow enough water. Front loader HE washers tumble the suspended dirt and grime back into the clothes. Beware potential purchasers, you cannot adjust water levels, manually!!"

How to adjust the water level on atop load washer model fftw4120sw1

Hi there, in newer washers this feature has been adjusted in a way thats a bit annoying. You can't direct adjust it as before but you may make it fill to the max by pressing max fill, you may also change the soil levels and this will also adjust your water levels. also take a look here http://manuals.frigidaire.com/prodinfo_pdf/Webster/A07504301Aen.pdf

How to Level a Whirlpool Top Loading Washer.

If you are experiencing consistent off-balance load issues with your Whirlpool top loading washer, it may be caused by a simple problem of needing to reset the auto-level mechanism and making sure the front feet are properly level. This advice may save you a service call and restore an unbalanced washer to running condition.

The rear feet on Whirlpool manufactured top loaders have an auto-leveling mechanism that you can easily reset yourself. Just follow these steps:

1. With the wash tub empty, open the washer lid and grasp the rim of the tub opening (do not grab the tub).

2. Now place one of your feet at the base of the washer along the front of the washer to keep it from moving.

3. Now pull the washer towards you so the rear feet lift off the floor a couple of inches. You should hear a clicking sound as the rear feet auto-level.

4. Carefully set the washer back down (do not slam it) and the rear of the washer should now be level.

Using a level, check the washer front to back and side to side to make sure it is level in all directions.

If you need to adjust the washer washer front feet, carefully lift the front of the washer and turn the feet to either adjust them up or down. The slightest difference can cause excessive vibration on the final spin. Check by placing your hands at opposite corners on top of the washer (diagonally - one on the rear, one on the front) and try rocking the washer to see if it moves. If the washer wobbles, you need to readjust.

This advice is for all Whirlpool manufactured top loaders with a direct-drive system such as Kenmore, Estate, Kelvinator, Roper, and Frigidaire. If in doubt, please post your MODEL NUMBER when submitting questions, so that I can determine if your washer is configured with this feature.

This does NOT include the Oasis, Cabrio or Calypso models.

I hope everyone finds this information helpful.

The washing Machine knocks during spinning

Easy fix: Readjust the riser supports and level the washer. Some washers have adjustable feet that screw up and down. Put a level across the top of the washer and when it is level front and back, the legs are in the correct position. Some units have auto-level adjustment meaning you have to pull your washer forward and bounce it gently back toward the wall and lift the Front in the same fashion. In some cases side to side adjustment by lifting one side up and then the other can do the same thing in adjusting the levels. Either way you must LEVEL the washer in order to STOP the rattle or bounce.

Maytag MHWE 400ww bought 11/08/11. It sounds like a jet fighter when in spin mode, so loud you can hear it outside of house, sounds like a possible dry bearing ( I have millwright experiance) cannot find...

I had a very similiar problem with my new washer about a year ago. I finally adjusted the legs on it, to get it completely level, and it stopped sounding like a jet fighter. It wasn't off by much, in fact, it was so close to being level, I didn't think it was worth adjusting.

I have a Miele W404SB WPS washing machine. Water leaks out of the door during the washing cycle. Do you have any suggestions how I can stop this. Regards, Teresa Rooney

1. Make sure the washer is level first, with a small torpedo level at the top center edge of the washer ,check at the front and one side. If its not, adjust the 2 front level foot adjusters (at the front of the unit where they touch the floor) to level the washer.
2. If level is ok, check the door seal and replace if cracked or torn or old and hardened.
3. If ok, look at the latch on the door and the washer. Some have an adjustment for how far the door closes to latch. There will be 2 screws or small bolts you will loosen to slide the lever or the latch plate to adjust so the door closes tighter.
4. If ok, then the water level sensor will have to be replaced by a qualified tech.

I would like the water level in the washer to be higher on the highest level setting. Currently, there is a 6 inch gap between the water level and the top of the tub, not enough to even cover the clothes...

You cannot adjust this. It is controled by the pressure switch. This level sounds about normal to me. But if you would like to check your switch there is a video at www.appliancehelponline.com/servicemanual.html that will walk you thru this. It is a different model but it works the same way. There are other videos to help with disassembly. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations of your specific model.

My front loading washer walks during use. Is

ther feet to the front of the washer are adjustable. You need either a spanner or a pair of pliers to adjust them. Get a spirit level and check which way the washer needs adjusting to make it level. Adjust the feet accordingly

Wm 2487H. My machine is off balance and shake the house terribly bad. It also has a metalic scraping sound sometimes when the drum spins. I just purchased my LG washer and dryer a couple of months ago. I...

Starting in November 2008--LG introduced "square door" model washers.
These washers will (unlike round door models) perform very well on wood floors.
If the WM2487 washer is on a wood floor--even a tiled wood floor--it will be near impossible to get smooth spin performance.
Some homeowners have had success by adding two layers of 3/4 inch wood under the washer AND dryer.
The following steps were taken:
1) Remove washer & dryer
2) Cut & remove any floor covering (bare wood)
3) Locate floor joists with a stud-finder & mark locations at the edge of the flooring--allows finding the joist locations after 3/4 sheet is laid to floor.
4) Add wood glue to floor
5) Place 3/4 inch wood sheet to floor & drive screws thru wood into joists (as many scews as deemed necessary to fully & completely compress wood sheet to existing floor
6) Add wood glue to 1st wood sheet
7) Place 2nd 3/4 inch wood sheet on top of 1st wood layer and drive screws into floor joists.
8) Add molding if desired
9) Re-install washer & dryer and level.
10) Add one heavy towel into washer tub & close door ( this will mimick an off-center load)
11) Press power "on" button
12) Press "Spin Speed" button & select high speed spin option
13) Press "Start" button
14) When * 9 minutes remaining * is displayed--use the flat wrenchette that comes with every LG washer to "tweak" the adjustment of the front leveling legs. This will allow for "fine tuning" adjustment of the front leveling leg(s) to eliminate vibration / noise during the spin cycle. The rear leveling legs DO NOT need further adjustment.
NOTE: Those with pedestals--check the front leveling legs on the washer and on the pedestals (front only) during spin.
