The preferred approach is to run a ground cable from the turntable to the ground post on the back of your preamp or receiver. This keeps buzz and hum out of the audio signal. If your receiver doesn't have a ground post, you'll have to connect the ground to one of the RCA signal jacks. In both cases the question is, when you have two grounds, which one to connect? You'll have to determine this by trial and error. My guess is you'll get the best results by connecting both, so start with this arrangement. Connect the turntable's audio cables from its RCA jacks to the receiver, select the phono input, and turn it on (with the volume turned down). Turn up the volume until you can hear hum or buzz. Then connect a piece of wire to the ground post on the turntable panel and touch the other end to the ground post on the receiver or to the RCA jack/plug's outer ring. If the hum/buzz goes away, you're good to go and can connect the wire permanently. If not, try the ground cables individually and use the connection that works best.

SOURCE: Ion ttUSB turntable fault

The ION should be internally grounded, however, it's possible the Tonearm might be faulty as well. Try a different USB cable as well - make sure you have one rated for the type of USB card you have (1.1, 2,0, etc).

FYI, this isn't the most sophisticated unit on the market, and not very well made either, so you might just have a faulty unit. If it's relatively new, I suggest calling in for warranty info, or try and return/exchange it.

Diagrams 3 wire meter base disconnect to 4 wire residential service panel. Grounding, common, and bonding

Can you please provide a picture of the meter base. Normally, the phase cable will connect to the top left an right posts. The Neutral will connect to the center post.

The bottom left and right posts are for the service entrance cables to the panelboard. The center post is for the Neutral.

Grounding and Bonding are very separate issues. Grounding is the low resistance path to protect the equipment from lighting. Bonding is the connection of all metal (pipes, fittings, conduit, cabinets) to the same zero point to prevent the metal from being energized.

What exactly are you trying to do?

Why is the right side of my Technics turntable dropping out and giving me a ground hum?

It sounds like a bad connection to the cartridge, perhaps even the cartridge itself.

Stanton STR8-100 Turntable ground wire?

Hi,
There is no such ground points in the Stanton STR8-100. The main thing you have to check is the RCA cable used. You should a high quality RCA cable suitable for Phono connections. If you use a normal RCA cable then it will produce HUM because if its weak ground shield.

Try with a good quality RCA cable with Good ground shielding.

I have a Dual CS714Q turntable with a constant hum on output. Any suggestions?

Hello!
Did you connect single black ground wire to the "ground" terminal at your amp? Probably not! Or, it got stepped on it, while moving around. Professional of hi-fi turntables using magnetic cartridges and require 2 well shielded audio cables, connected directly to the cartridge, plus separate ground wire, which attached to all the metal parts of tone arm and body. Failure to connect this wire to the body(metal) or the amplifier, will cause this loud "hum".
thanks,
Alex.

Buzz on treble tone knob?

Tone pot should only have 2 of the 3 lugs with connections, one of which should go to ground or to the capacitor that goes to ground. If by "double wire" you mean shielded cable, the outer 'wire' is the shield that should be grounded at one end at least, probably to the back of tone pot.

Tone Arm acting as arial

A metal tone arm has a ground wire that connects it to the back of the stereo via the Turntable chassis. If this wire is broken (inside the deck of the turntable) or the ground to the stereo is not done, you can have this issue. No, the ground through the audio connectors is not sufficient.

How do i get rid of a black line going down my screen

On cable?

It is called a Hum-Bar on cable and it relates to a grounding issue, either lift or connect the ground at your cable splitter at the demarcation point OR purchase a cable vision ground breaker (cost about 10 dollars).

Let me know if this helps, I can source you a ground breaker if that is infact the problem.

Cheers,

Kevin

ION iTTUSB turntable has buzzing sound when I record

It sounds like you have a bad ground on the tone arm. It's probably time to replace the tone arm wiring, or the external connecting cables.
