Device your needing:
1. Modem
2. Router
3. Hub / Switch
4. UTP cable
5. RJ45

I'm sure you have a modem, right? First you need to have a router. The manual on your router will teach you how to connect to LAN, you just follow the instruction.

For cabling instruction and other info. just e-mail me [email protected]

I can't put all the details here..

What is difference between lan card and modem

Hi there,

The difference between a Lsn Card and a modem are this - A Lan card is a card that you slide into the side of a laptop and it can allow you the ability to get onto a network wirelessly. A Lan card for a PC allows a Lan connection by way of a CAT 5 cable that will allow you to get onto the internet or if a crossover cable is attached to your pc to another you are directly connected to the network. A modem is a piece of hardware that is installed into a slot in the PC that will allow you the ability to get onto the internet by attaching a phone line to it through the RJ 11 jack (which it comes with 2 rj11 jacks on it).

Hi I am using reliance broadband. They have

Easy, if your modem is connected to your computer right now and internet is working all you need to do is connect your LAN line to your belkin router. the connection should say input, or Internet. after that you will need another LAN wire (These look like telephone cables but the jack plug is larger and will only fit a lan connection on your router or computer) Connect the second wire to the line 1 or outout 1 from your router, to your pc in the slot where the other cable was connected. your internet signal should work.... on your mobil find any available network and log in to your belkin router.

that should do it.... if you haven't set up your internet connection, do that first by installing the drivers for the modem provided by your provider and then complete the process above.

How to link with 16 port switch with 8 port switch

Good question.
To link the new switch, take a short cable from the LAN port on the new Switch and connect it to one of the existing ports on the old or connected switch. it's just a daisychain.
Just keep in mind that the LAN connection on the Last switch must be connected to a PORT on the prior device on the LAN.

I have a DSL line from Airtel, and my Zyxel P-600 works OK on a single PC. But when I use it on LAN, it doesn't work. Please help.

Hello manishbillor,

Have you tried using a proxy server on the computer that's connected to the ZyXel P-600? Using a proxy server makes it possible to share an Internet Connection on a LAN. A good free proxy server can be downloaded from the analogX web site:
http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/Network/proxy/Freeware.htm

The browsers on the other computers need to be setup to use the proxy server machine address. Search for 'proxy' on the browser's help menu option to determine how to do it (very simple).

If this solution is helpful please click a thumbs-up rating below.

Have a great day,

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

First congratulation on your new wireless router, not the worst by these days :-)

You unplug your internet connection, where your computer now connects to the internet.
Then, you use the short cable to connect between the modem and the router in the one named WAN.
Next to this, is four called LAN, - you connect your computer to one of these (which one don’t matter).
Then you use the CD that came with the router, and follow each step.

It is very important that you set up the Admin password, so that your neighbor can’t access your router and change the setup.
Then in "Wireless ->Wireless security" setup one of the keys.
Allso the SSID, your own network "name".

Write everything down, as you have to set up the same on your laptop later.

If you need additional info, do come back, I’m here to help you.

Internet

There is no utility that comes natively with XP to monitor traffic on an ICS connected LAN. I assume you are not directly connected to the ICS computer, and are running through a Switch or Hub? And you do not have access to this to see how many lines are connected?

If this is the case, you can download and install a packet sniffer and place it within the LAN in front of the ICS computer. It will 'see' all packets traveling across the wire, and report the MAC addresses and IP Addresses to which they are bound. Since every NIC has a unique MAC address (and IP Address), you can see how many computers (NICs) there are in the LAN, and connected to the wire.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Packet_sniffer

Ethereal:

http://www.ethereal.com/download.html

You can also use a utility like LanGuard Analyzer to search for all computers on the LAN:

http://www.gfi.com/lannetscan/

The last time I checked the trial version is fully operational for 30 days.. I use it in my Corporate LAN to monitor all 1000 computers in my domain.

One other thing to keep in mind, since ICS uses the Class C subnet (this cannot be changed), it has a limit of 254 clients that can be attached.. just an FYI..

Good luck!
